All men don't have the same connection to God. Some writers will be more inspiring that others. Ancient writing tend to be given exagerated importance, and since people are program early in life, or by a lot of strong believers arround them, a lot of people are predisposed to this inspiration. But, one should be able to find even better inspiration, in this must more advanced and informed time, we live in now. No inspiration will be perfect, in regards to its connection with God. One just has to search and see what one finds. Meditation/prayer, mind-body exercise, healthy eating, and not overindulging, should help you find inspiration, even if it has to come from oneself.

I am assuming you are speaking about holy books.
The bible, for example, has been raised to the level of being god's word by the people who find the bible important to their way of life. They must affirm spiritual significance to what they read because it is what they believe.
As for those outside the religion, its just another book. It is all a matter of perspective, I guess.
