As Christians we are called to feed the poor, clothe the naked, help those suffering, etc. so what organization do you support/recommend that does that?

I'd have to recommend

They seek to help those unduly afflicted by oppressive and corrupt governments and

Christian Freedom International
They help persecute Christians around the globe escape from torture and death. They also seek to help those in prison for their faith. (They go into countries regardless of whether or not they've been invited. They take Christ's command to go into ALL the world as literal and don't wait for political correctness.)

What are some ministries you'd recommend? Thanks!

During Christmas time we support "Angel Tree" -- the shoebox gifts for kids who receive nothing on Christmas. Usually churches do this, and they ship them out- but what it is, is you buy small toys and even school stuff and candy and toiletries to fill up a big shoe box, then wrap it and give it to that charity, or church that is supporting Angel Tree.

Also the Rescue Mission is a good one, to help feed the hungry in your town- most towns have a rescue mission I assume.

Heifer International

www.Heifer.org

Your donations buy animals such as cows, sheep, goats, chickens, that the people in third world countries can raise for milk and eggs and for plow animals. Raising a cow can give the children enough milk every day to prevent starvation. They are taught how to farm properly. They then give the first born heifer or kid to another family and help teach them how to farm.

It is along the "give a man a fish and he will eat for one day, teach a man to fish and he will have plenty" philosophy. Its more of a program to improve agriculture than just hand outs.

I don't support any of them because most all are corrupt, and money hungry. They clame non profit, and help for the poor. But when one checks behind them, they learn the people working there making huge amounts of money, and the poor getting practilly nothing at all. If you really want to help the poor, donate to your church and help them set up a program for the community you live in for the benifit of the poor.

I tend to give to local charities more than national ones.

CityTeam Ministries and Philabundance are two that I support.
