Those fighting for the North or those fighting for the South? Neither treated well; dregs on the equipment, less pay them white soldiers and generally not trusted bu the white troops.

Yes There were African-Americans troops in the Civil wars
Didn't matter whether were in the U.S. army or the Canadian Army. check out the history
