Well I took beginners french for about 6 years when in a private elementary school and I have not spoken or heard it spoken since. I am now trying to pick up from where I was and go even farther. My husband wants to learn it with me. He does not have regular access to a computer and there is no way that we can pick up and relocate to France. Also, we cannot enroll in a class at this time. So, I went to BarnesnNoble to buy a book/textbook that would include a cd-rom but there are so many different ones. I need something that would include vocabulary and grammar - not just something for a traveler. Please if you know of a good book/audio let us know. Also, what has worked for you? ....thanks!

Get a set of CD's called French with Michel Thomas, they are absolutely wonderful for the beginner learner, it works like this you learn Hello, I'm John, then Hello I'm John and I want some cake, then Hello I'm John and I want to go to the store. You listen and build on things you've heard before and by the end of the course you honestly can speak rudimentary French (or whatever language your listening to). The results are absolutely fantastic. Bon Chance!

The excellent solution to gain knowledge of any language is to enclose your self by means of it. Try your neighborhood library for a few French tapes and films to aid. A pronunciation advisor ( as soon as once more, you'll uncover one on the library) may be very useful. If you continue to are not able to learn it after finding out it out of a guide or a pc, then you're traditionally doing some thing mistaken. If you're on the second most effective finding out vocabulary and now not grammar you're now not going to be capable to make heads or stories of whatever. If you gain knowledge of grammar you'll almost always decipher a sentence and fill within the blanks for the phrases you do not know. And, should you've most effective been finding out French for a brief even as, you then should not be capable to fully grasp it but, given that it takes a great deal of time to fully grasp a local speaker if they don't seem to be slowing down or making use of less difficult phrases for you. It takes time and train. Good good fortune in finding out French, if I had been you, I could attempt to uncover a direction of a few style. It particularly is plenty less difficult with a instructor of a few style.

There's a great about.com on line site of which name is
" A la française " Forum - run by a canadian young woman named Laura - it's a real treasure in terms of resources -

I took part previously as a benevolent native in that site - even met there people like you, who lived in the region where our family farm is located -

Do go there and then make your own opinion -

Found it !!!!!

i tried the book thing and gave up on it. it just doesn't sink into an adult mind the way it does when we're younger. i've heard, the rosetta stone programs are very good though. it's not just a book but, a computer or t.v assisted program.
