I received a bill for asking me to pay $550 tax for my cars but I moved out of MO in April, do I really need to pay it?

Yes, you do! You have to pay the personal property tax on any vehicles owned by you in the state of MO as of 1/1 of any year. If you moved out on 1/2, you'd still owe the tax in December. (And MO will go after you for the taxes due!)

Must be a troll that gave this a thumbs down. Read the return you filed in February or March that listed your taxable personal property. It explains it all right there in the instructions! Taxable property in your possession within the state of MO on January 1st is taxed. Tax bills are prepared and mailed out the following November or December and are due and payable no later than December 31st. Even if you do not receive a bill, you are legally obligated for the tax. If it isn't paid by December 31st, penalties will accrue as of January 1st.

If you owned the titled vehicle in Mo. Jan. 1 you owe taxes for the whole year.

As long as you were there all of last year you have to pay. You moved after January 1.

Why the thumbs down! It's the truth.
