I have an Acer Aspire 5570Z laptop. It runs Vista. I want to upgrade to Linux but my understanding is that I'll have to find all the drivers firsthand. Not quite sure where to look for that. Also, when installing Ubuntu 7.10 over Vista do I have o uninstall Vista beforehand? What kind of things do I have to worry about while doing this?

The Acer website would be where to get the drivers and the ubuntu website would be where you'd get the best knowledgeable answers regarding the second part of your question

If you don't know a lot about Linux, you might just want to keep Vista--I liked XP better than Vista, but I'm hoping soon they will have a service pack for it.

I've done a lot of Linux installs. Please don't go there alone. If you are going to run linux, forget windows on the same system inspite of the fact that it can be done.
