i've heard it helps the thyroid but does it have an overall effect on our bodies and what type of fat is it?

the majority of the fats in coconut oil are medium chained triglycerides or MCT's. these are shorter chained fatty acids that the body uses more like glucose but with out the related increases in glucose or insulin levels. because of the shorter chained molecule it is less likely to be converted to a lipid and stored in the fat cell if there is a caloric excess.
