Would it provide all the nutrients needed, and if not, what possible health problems could this cause?

It's called "fruitarianism".

I know quite a number of people who have attempted this. They lost a lot of weight and some of them became too weak to stand, but others seemed OK. However, it wasn't clear that their diets consisted entirely of fruit because they would sometimes eat raw food of other kinds or even cooked vegan food on occasion when invited to friends' for meals. This was going on around 15 years ago and i've lost touch with most of them. The ones i still know are no longer fruitarian, and in fact at least one of them now eats red meat.

I looked into it at the time. Some of them were eating anything which was botanically a fruit, so for example they would eat tomatoes and nuts as well, and others would only eat what was generally regarded as fruit, meaning that they would not eat avocados or tomatoes, among other things. Using the word in the common sense, no fruit is more than 2% protein, but many people believe the requirement for protein is overestimated. One person refused to eat the seeds of fruit, which is important because it would have been the only source of certain nutrients, for instance some essential fatty acids.

They might have got B12 from bacteria on the fruit. Some of them believed that B12 was manufactured by intestinal flora which in non-fruitarians was in the wrong place for it to be absorbed.

You would get sick eventually with a cold - and without fats and proteins that fruit doesn't provide us with you couldn't fight it off and would get worse and worse until you died.

And fruit is awfully high in sugar. A banana an 7 oz of soda has the same amount of sugar about but the banana has all sorts of vitamins and minerals, but the soda is just empty calories.

The greater processed the food, the better the sugar (accepted rule). it is the reason an apple is larger than the comparable weight of apple juice. i might could inspect labels to be sure which had greater sugar, yet considering fruit juice has organic meals, and Coke does no longer, it is the reason fruit juice - regardless of if the comparable in energy, is larger. regardless of the shown fact that, for severe dieters, distilled water sixty 4 oza day is the main suitable.

I think we'd be missing some of the protein we'd need if we tried to live on a diet of ONLY fruit.

no , we couldn' t survive of fruit mode alone only , because our body needs rock salt and the vitamins and the oligos-elements, we need also pastes in order to gain proteins, which are good for the synthesis of the cells.

I don't think so, even chimps eat meat. We need protein in our diets, fruit doesn't give us that. And imagine how much toilet roll you would get through!

Survive? Yes, for about 3 weeks, but you would be deficient in vitamins, minerals, fat, carbs and protein.
