I just moved to where I'm living at now and there are alot of neglected and mistreated animals...so I've been giving them homes, having them spayed or neutered and shots and trying to find them homes....this puppy was in a desperate situation....normally I don't have dogs....but I couldn't leave it were it was it was a very inhumane situation.

I gotta second that!! WHY would you chose NOW to bring a new puppy into the home??? The mother cat must be freaked right out!!!!!
Provide her a room of her own and keep the puppy AWAY!!! THem spay her so she doen't have to have more kittens!!!

Unfortunately a mother with kittens is going to be protective regardless of whether the puppy has been around for the kittens whole life, or if its new. The behavior of a puppy is erratic and causes most humans to keep an eye on it to make sure it's behaving and itsn't hurting anyone. This same caution is exhibited by the cat trying to protect her kittens from what she percieves as a danger or threat to her young.

I can't think of a worse time to spring a dog on a cat. Keep them separated until her kittens are raised and in homes of their own. She will be ticked off and consider the puppy a threat to her babies.

Momma is being protective of her babies. Shame on you for bringing in a new puppy when you've got kittens who are so dependent on momma right now!

Get rid of the puppy, what were you think about, bringing a pet pet in to your hosehold when you have kittens around.
