swollen hands...allergic to shopping?

well yesterday i was at the mall and when i went to a store all of a sudden my hands started getting very itchy and it was painful then they started getting VERY swollen and red. this is the first time it happens to me but that usually happens to my sister when she goes to a big store(especially department stores) and as soon as she gets out the itch stops and the swelling start goings away...so my question is...Am i allergic to something that is in the store? or to dirty things?

It could be the dye in clothes that is making you itch and swell. If the swelling hasn't gone down and you are still itching, take2 benedryl and call me in the morning!

In large department store, sometimes they piped in a fragrance into the air all over the store to sublimimally suggest that you find it alluring and buy it. But not all of us like the same fragrance and some of us are very sensitive. But if it is happening only to one hand, it is whatever you're touching, and in a department store, there are so much to touch and other people have already touched it, so you're going to pick up whatever they had and more. Carry a small bottle of purell liquid in your purse when you go shopping, and when you feel the itch, clean your hands immediately. I don't know if that is the trigger, but you need to find out in order to avoid it.

Could be anything from the dryness of the air, the plastic in the shopping bags, a disinfectant in the mall. nerves because you are spending too much money, stress from deciding what to spend on a gift. and many more.

usually, clothes have all kinds of substances over them because of all the places they have been in so probably you and your sister are allergic to some of that substances
