neither - these are the hottest & most humid months of the year!! but if these are the only months that you can travel, then pick June. the school kids aren't out yet so the streets won't be a crowded; jul & aug are flooded w/ tourists.

if your dates are flexible, then should visit from oct. onwards; the weather is more comfortable otherwise be prepared to SWEAT !!!

Hi,

I was there in June. It was quite hot then, but I really enjoyed having 0 days of rain while in HK. The sky was rather thick with smog, but I am sure HK is like that a lot of the time (much of that pollution comes from other parts of the Pearl River Delta). I think July/August is getting closer to the heavy rains...so maybe you will want to avoid then.

Dress and be prepared for for hot weather but also bring appropriate items for wet weather.

there is plenty to do in Hong Kong ~ so, whenever you visit, just enjoy the experience ~ rain or shine.

Cheers ~ M.

I'm afraid you're quite far from the Great Wall of China. I'd definitely suggest going up to Victoria Peak on a clear day in the late afternoon. The view is spectacular, and come down in the evening on the tram. If you're staying in Kowloon, you'll be taking the Star Ferry into Hong Kong Island. Don't worry it'll cost you $0.25USD. Try out the food and don't be afraid to pop in on restaurants. Most Hong Kong people speak varying degrees of English. Eat where the locals dine for the full experience, and to save on money. If you're a coffee drinker, you're out of luck. The locals don't drink it, so don't expect them to know to make it right. The tea is quite good though. Other attractions include Ocean Park, Disneyland, Government House, Wax Museum, HK Space Museum and many others. Be sure to take a stroll through the Lady's Market even if you don't intend on making any purchases. Be careful of your handbags and purses though. Pickpockets are around in crowded areas. If you want to escape briefly from Asia, step into Lan Kwai Fong for the "Western" district but don't stay too long. And don't forget to ride the double-decker bus! You will probably also be taking rides on Hong Kong's subway (underground) called the MTR, so get yourself an Octopus Card (RFID payment card). Transportation is cheap, so take a ride through HK Island, Kowloon and NT! Lastly, you say you're not much of a shopper, but the bargains are all-around! So take advantage of the opportunity to get discount goods, the same ones as back home.

Elaine is right about May and after October when it'll be cooler. But if you must go in June, or July or August, pick June! Have a great time!

I agree with Wendy T and try to avoid July & August. The best months are May and after October. I was there in Sep to Oct and it was hot. Even if you travel in Dec/Jan, you might have 24C!

Well, in terms of fun, it really doesn't matter, June, July, or August are perfect.
