I love the smell of my grandma's house. We go there every Christmas Eve...have a delicious meal and open gifts with my father's side of the family. Something about the way that house smells though, takes me back to a time when my legs shot straight out from the couch and I could admire my white tights and patent leather mary-janes. I would smooth my little Christmas dress and pray for dinner to be over so I could have my gifts! Now as an adult, my husband and I let grandma open the gifts first, with our feet on the floor.
Happy Holidays everyone!

My grandmother always made this spiced tea mix, and she would serve it when we came by to visit. I flet so grown up having a hot drink to sip on! Now she's 84, and I make the mix for her at Christmastime!
Spiced Tea Mix
1 (18-oz) jar Tang
2 packages instant lemonade mix (3 oz, unsweetened)
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp cloves, ground
3/4 cup instant tea
2½ cups sugar
Mix all together thoroughly, place in tightly covered jars or container, and use as needed. To make a cup of tea, place 2 heaping teaspoons in cup and add boiling water.

It may sound weird, but the smell of cold air is so soothing to me. I think it's just the area I live in, but I swear when I walk outside, I can smell a cold front. I live in an area where it doesn't snow so it's not really noticeable, unless you know what you're looking (sniffing?) for. That, and the smell of sunblock ALWAYS makes me think of my two favorite seasons, winter and summer. And now that I think of it, balsam pine. Makes me all sleepy for some reason.

Waking up to the smells of my mom's pumpkin pies baking, and stuffing being made to put in the turkey! That and a pot of coffee perking and bacon frying for a quick breakfast. Looking out the window and seeing snow and icicles.....lovely!

I love those hard candies with stripes on them. They just bring me back to when I was a small child.
