Yes to all the beans & rice answers! Can also make 15-bean soup, potato soup (especially great if you can get a ham bone from the grocer or a small amount of country ham), baked potatoes topped with broccoli and cheese (or chili, or leftover stew, whatever you like)... also, roasting a whole chicken (much cheaper than buying a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken) gives you lots of tasty protein and you can cook down the carcass to make really good stock to base your soups on.
Minestrone soup gives you a complete protein with very little fat/calories and lots of fiber!

You'll need to get—
Peanut Butter
Whole Wheat Bread
Grape or Strawberry Jelly
Chicken
Pasta Sides/Rice Sides (they're only a dollar each)
Canned Vegetables
Canned Tomatoes (which are usally 5 for 3 dollars)
Ground Beef
Raisins
Eggs
Potatoes (usually 5 dollars for 10 pounds)
Spaghetti Sauce
Frozen Mixed Vegetables
Elbow Macaroni & other spaghetti (usually 69 cents)
Broth (usually 50 cents)
Milk
Whipped Butter
Eggs
Gravy
Cheese
A gallon of Milk
A box of Cereal
Orange Juice
Baby Carrots
Oatmeal
Lunch meat
& A can of Iced Tea Mix or Fruit Juice Mix
Now, you'll want ground beef because you make a selection of different meals with it. You can have it with with spaghetti & sauce, you can have it with elbows & gravy, etc.
You'll want any generic brand of peanut butter & jelly for quick sandwhiches on the go. And, the whole wheat bread is a lot healthier then regular bread.
A gallon of milk is for the cereal, you can buy a generic box/bag of cereal for 2 dollars or less.
Pasta Sides/Rice Sides always come in handy. They're a dollar each and cook within 5-15 minutes, depending which one you make. They go good with anything like chicken, pork chops, burgers, anything.
You would want to stock up on canned vegetables to have with dinner.. the frozen mixed vegetables are good to steam and have with chicken.
You can cut up pieces of chicken, potatoes, baby carrots, and add canned peas to broth and create your own soup.
The eggs are good for breakfast time as well as the oatmeal (you don't have to get brand name.. can get generic) and the fruit choices.. also Orange Juice for the morning to get you going.
You'll need whipped butter for cooking purposes as well as you can have butter toast in the morning for breakfast if you wish.
One lunchmeat w/ cheese can go a long way, so I'd suggest a favorite like ham or turkey breast.
You can get Kraft Cheese Singles 2 for 5 dollars, so that's a good choice or you can get Bordens for a little less then that.
The raisins are good for snacking.

Here's an easy, cheap and healthy dinner idea....
1 box of Vigo yellow rice= $2
1 can of black beans=$1
1 already cooked chicken from your local grocery=$4-5
De-skin the chicken and remove the mean in shreds. Cook the rice and beans and mix everything together in one large bowl. Wholla, yellow rice and chicken dinner. (really good!)

meals that strech onto a few days: chili, casseroles, stews. Sandwhiches, mac and cheese. You can do well on getting good, healthy meals, just buy things that are on sale, and the generic brands of items. Good luck !

Used to be that amphetamines were called "diet pills." But those are illegal and not very healthy. Don't go there!
