I don't think Jesus ever said that. The closest thing I remember reading in the Gospels was him saying "What matters is not what goes into man's mouth, but rather what comes out." Most Christians understand this as a repealing of kashrus (the dietary laws).

As a Jew, I can tell you that thats a load of crap. Judaism is very concerned both with what goes into its adherent's mouths AND what comes out. The fact that proper speech is important (i.e. rumors, gossip, and slander in general are forbidden) doesn't mean that the kashrus isn't! Of course, non-Jews were never held to the Jewish dietary laws, so for them it's a moot point. According to Jewish teachings, non-Jews are expected to uphold the Seven Commandments (http://www.aish.com/literacy/judaism123/The_7_Noachide_Laws.asp) as opposed to the 613 commandments that form the core of Jewish observance.

For a G-d-fearing Jew, ritual and ethical precepts are basically inseparable. Both types of laws are equally binding because both eminate from the same source. The G-d that tells us not to eat pork or shellfish is the same G-d that tells us not to steal or murder. To preach that these Torah laws are binding, and those Torah laws are not, is apostasy.

My costly Jeff, out of admire, i'd on no account label contributors of different faiths "deluded". in my view, extremely some the time human beings keep on with the religion of their kinfolk and ancestors. individually, i've got faith Jesus Christ is the son of God. Please remember, i became born into an somewhat Christian kinfolk. My ancestors from the two facets have been Christian. Case and element? How tragic that's that persons won't be able to worship the way they want and refrain from judgment of others with distinctive concept's. This difficulty has brought about misery previous comprehension because of the fact the initiating of recorded history. As constantly, I say, peace and love is the respond ((Jeff))

Jesus never said that. He only ate kosher, and told his Jewish followers to keep the law of Moses too.

Later on, in order for Christianity to be accepted by the gentiles in places like Syria and Asia Minor, most of the tough Jewish stuff (like dietary rules) had to be thrown out.

Jesus was Jewish and he adhered to the Jewish dietary laws. He never said it was OK to reject them; this is something that Christians try and insist he MEANT but it's just not the case. Jesus died a practising Jew when the Romans crucified him.

The NT was written a long time later and primarily by people, such as Paul, who never even met Jesus.

Peter said that, not Jesus. Jews wouldnt care less since Jesus has no place in Judaism just like Buddha. Muslims wouldnt care since they believe the New Testament has been corrupted by man.

Jesus never said anything of the sort. The passage you refer to was added by the pope in the 15th century, so the inquisition had a standard to define christians from other religions. Those who would not eat pork were killed. ""real true christianity in all its glory""....!!

Jesus kept within the dietary laws. Paul said it was okay to eat pork because they were trying to get more converts. Pork is nasty, I don't care who says its okay to eat!
