I used to be in amazing shape and since summer it's kind of drifted. I've gone back to training with my trainer but only 2 days a week instead of 5, and I haven't been sticking to my healthy diet. I've given myself lots of motivation but I'm still struggling with throwing myself back into the thing I love. Any ideas on how I can get myself to go in to the gym more or anything?
THANK YOU!!!!!

I don't buy any junk food, soda, candy, etc. I am on a raw food diet, so I buy things at the store that stick with my diet. That way I can't sit around my house and eat junk when I am depressed, bored, etc. If I need a little motivation to go to the gym, I run down to the local sports shop and pick up a totally cute new workout outfit. Then, after I have done really well for a while, I go buy a totally hot dress and treat myself to a night out. It works. Trust me.

I know this is hard. People struggle with this daily, so don't feel all alone with this. My advice is to keep up a steady pace to what you are doing, if you need to stop, stop. This doesn't mean giving up, just do what you can and it will gradually become easier. What I would do is, on Thanksgiving, pig out as much as possible, and then the following Monday get back to it.

P.S. Those lean cuisine things are nasty! Try the old fashioned way the block each day!

Take one day at a time. Get used to the two days a week and after a while our body will crave for more as you get fitter. Then increase to three days until you get back to your 5 days a week. The same for your diet. DO NOT rush yourself. Enjoy the what you doing in bits!

Think back to what got you going the first time you got in shape. Was it a romance, the challenge, or...? There's the aspect of "done that", and you may not feel as up about it all the second time around. Also, to what use, if any, would you put being in amazing shape? Sports? Etc. My mystic mojo sez you'll rediscover your ambition in January.

It helps if you like the type of exercise and keep a varied approach; that you exercise goals are tied to a larger goal (i.e. trip to the beach); that you build in plenty of rewards; that you have some form of accountability to what systems you are agreeing to put in place. I've been using a free web based motivation site called Sproximo - it helps me record all of my goals, create a schedule and even send me reminders of what I'm trying to achieve.

Good luck!

Here's some thing I do with my clients:

-Sign an accountability contract. Write up a contract between yourself and your trainer and stick to it.

-Write down everything. Exercise, diet, etc. Write it down and analyze it.

-What's changed since this summer? Why have you changed? Figure out why that is and fix that problem.

Take a sheet of paper and a pen. Write down a workout plan. Since you're only doing 2 days a week now, don't overdo it. Make it 3 times a week, maybe Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Find gym buddies who will motivate you. I Always go to the gym with girlfriends who have a hotter body than myself, so it makes me work that much harder. No one wants to be the fatty of a group!
