I am approx 30k in credit card debt. I need to know how to get out of debt. I can not pay more then the minimum balance which is all interest of about $1200 a month. I have applied for other cards to pay off the other cards but no one will approve me. I make a good salary and I have good credit but I can not get rid of the high interest rates. Anyone have any ideas on waht to do? I have already tried calling the card companies I have to reduce the interest rate, but they will not. I don't know what to do.

I did a chapter 7 bankruptcy. I owed $40,000 and now I owe $0. I was sick and tired of paying these credit card companies over and over again for something that was paid off years ago. Why should we make them richer. It was the best thing I could have done. I sleep at night now. I can buy food for my kids now. You may want to get a free opinion from a bankruptcy lawyer in your area. Don't be ashamed to do this, that's why the government has this policy in effect, so people can get a fresh start and hopefully learn from bad past experiences. If you need anymore info feel free to email me at hansjill228@optonline.net. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Contact your local Consumer Credit Couseling Service or local not for profit debt counselor's office is your first step.

If you prefer not to go that route, try a debt consolidation loan. I'd avoid a home equity loan. Even though there may be tax breaks for that, with $30K in credit card debt, you've already shown that you aren't the best at handling your debts. If you take a HELOC and mess up again, you could end up losing your house.

Go to your bank and get a debt consolidation loan. The rate will be better than credit cards. Even better, if you own your home, is a home equity loan. If you own your car outright, you can get a car loan. With the car a colateral, the rate will be lower than with an unsecured credit card loan.

Pay it all off as soon as you can or faster than you can't. Have you ever watched the Suze Orman show? Made just for you.
