The computer does not really know who is using it. The only thing it knows is what you signed in as (presuming you needed to sign in at all.)
When you first start up the computer it loads a 'user ID' (presuing this is Windows XP). Sometimes you need to choose which user ID you want to load from a list (e.g. Administrator etc.) (I'm using a lot of brackets in this. I'll stop now.)

What rights and privileges you have will depend on how you're logged in. Some user ID's are Administrators. They can delete anything and change any setting. They can really mess the PC up if they want to. Other user ID's don't have any or all of these privileges, called 'Restricted Users'.

If you know you're not signed as an Administrator, log out, and log back in as one now. Then try uninstalling the programmes you want to remove.

If you know you're an administrator but you still can't uninstall the software you want to remove, then it's very likely that you've picked up a virus. Viruses often show themselves as a normal piece of software, but one that you can't remove once you've got them. Then they spread to all sorts of other areas to your computer, infecting files and corrupting your operating system. If that is the case, you're going to need to reformat your hard-drive, and reinstall your operating system. I'd ask for some good advice on how before you do.

(the danger of deleting just the files from a program you want to remove is that you don't clean the information out of the computer's registry, which is like it's streetmap of everything on your computer. Your computer will look for all sorts of things every time you start up, and if it doesn't find them, you risk getting error messages every time you load your pc, unless you can clean out your registry, too.)

(rich G surely the whole point of posting questions here is it's not just one opinion but lots... why not just answer any q's here?)

(Yep, I just hate it when it says that, Microsoft's idea of a joke! You get that in their "knowledge base" a lot, too! Who the heck is this System Administrator figure who's supposed to be roaming out and about the world??? I'd love to meet her or him and learn how s/he got the title!)

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

I suppose, you tried, Add and Remove Programs? No luck?

You bought the computer, que no? Did you have a hand in setting it up? Did the person or folks from whom you bought it, give you the "administrator" password? (They danged well better have!) That's the one you want.

If your userid doesn't have "administrative" privileges, then you may have to logoff your userid, get to the logon screen and quick press ctrl+alt+delete and logon that administrator userid (with that "administrator" password) and go to user accounts and give your usual userid "administrator" privileges.

(Then you'll be System Administrator and you can "go see yourself...")

If you can't Add and Remove...you can at least dig down through My Computer and find the folder(s) in which the program lives and highlight each folder and hold shift and press delete and ...kazaam... gone forever!
