Check and make sure the user accounts actually exist (right-click My Computer, choose Manage, go to Local Users and Groups, Users). My guess is the only account on the machine is Administrator which will not show up on the Welcome screen.

Boot to Safe Mode (tap F8 once a second or so from a cold boot), log in as Administrator and check it out. Create the accounts if need be.

Not enough detail!!!

My guess is you re-installed XP (which, Home or Pro?) improperly or used the wrong kind of XP source disk. You must use the Recovery disks, if they came with your PC, not a "store-bought" XP disk. Did you install all motherboard (Make & Model?) drivers?

Please re-post and explain exactly how you installed XP (OEM, Upgrade, Full or Recovery disks), step by step, and your PC make & model.

Then, we can try to help.
