Why does the R&S Spell Checker go nuts when you check the spelling of "proven" which is the past tense and the past participle of "prove". Doesn't R&S like logic, reasoning, and proof?

It's supposed to be "proved" I guess. (Though in MS Word, "proven" is an acceptable word... But we must all bow before the Yamster's wisdom and refuse to use "proven.")

I've noticed the exact same thing. A lot of times the spell check on R&S and the spell check built into Firefox disagree. I always default on the side of Firefox.

I wasn't aware that YA spell check objects to proven. That's pretty amazing.

It's in Websters:

Yahoo seems to prefer the option "proved"

Firefox's spell checker is happy with "proven" though.

It is a christian conspiracy to keep you from providing any proof in the past tense.

Yes, my dear, proven is a word....
But re: R&S..... no... do NOT attempt to mess with the higher powers at R&S..... didn't you know there is NO sense, rhyme or reason [or logic] on YA...?

Religion and proof/proven do not get along very well together.
