The only news article I have ever seen regarding the use of a chip was concerning a young boy and his family who resided in Florida (I believe). It seems there was a medical reason for the use of a chip, although it has been a very long time since the article appeared.

Ok, the burden of proof is on the person who made the statement. Placing the burden of proof on you is a tactic used by those who either believe anything or know it is a lie.
Ask the person where he/she got this valuable tidbit. Go and check the source. If the person cannot give a source then tell the person to stop wasting your time. If the person gives a source but it turns out to be the "Weekly World News" then tell the person that you need a more substantial source such as a report from a more respected news organization.
The problem you are going to run into is that it is impossible to prove that the false. There is no way to prove it is false.
Imagine this statement, "The government is tracking all people by means of a special DNA change done to you at birth that needs fluoridated water to keep it powered". What evidence would be required to prove that statement false? Think about it. You could say that the technology is not there. The reply is that the government keeps the technology secret. You could reply that not all places have fluoridated water. The reply is that the government is working to make all water, even that in bottles, fluoridated and to outlaw non-fluoridated water. No matter what you come up with, someone will be able to shoot it down because you cannot prove a negative.
Besides, planting a chip in all people is not too bright. Biometrics is the way that people will be able to identify themselves in the future. Retina scans, fingerprint scans, voice recognition. Stuff like that will be used to ID people. One day, we may even have scanners that can recognize a person's DNA. Long way off in the future, but it could be done.

Hmmm. maybe not at the moment..but I`m sure at some point in the future, our governments will see this as an excellent idea! And try to persuade us that it is...IE,,you`ll never lose a child while out shopping etc..If he or she is abducted, they will be able to pinpoint the child via satellite, thanks to the chip! I`m sure they will put out similar examples which hav`nt even been thought of yet as a means to persuade the public that it`s a good idea....god I hope not but look What we are already trying to do with National DNA databases..they want everyone on it already criminal or not...frightening..

I haven't heard about chips in babies. I did hear a story on one of the major networks that doctors in Florida want to implant the chips in Alzheimer's patients. (I couldn't find a link to the story on the television story). Actually, if it weren't for the creepy factor, it might be a good idea.
I happen to believe in the Rapture and the Tribulation. However, I don't think Verichip is the technology that will be used for the mark of the Beast. Some people are spreading hysteria.

They are already putting computer chips in dogs and cats.
However, there appears to be a side-effect of some of the computer chips, that is, the computer chips cause cancer in some animals.
That's my understanding.
Regarding humans, they already implant items into some humans including pacemakers for the heart, etc.
Is it possible that some financial companies would like to implant computer chips into customers, either as children, or even prior to birth?
In my view, yes.
Have computer chips (designed to store or monitor data) been implanted into a few babies?
Suspect yes.
