Ahcho A appears trying to be a smart aleck with his answer but years ago it was true. I was one of many officers in a photo lineup on a rape/sexual assault/burglary case. In fact, every "suspect" except the actual suspect was a police officer.
I have never been in an actual lineup & this was my only instant being in a photo-lineup.
A lot of people have been in photo-lineups & never knew it. Officers can get copies of drivers' license photos to use in photo-lineups. The police do not have to notify you if your photo is used this way.

No.

A fellow I used to work with was, and he was picked out and jailed for multiple rapes.

That night, before the media had a chance to convict him, the actual rapist struck again and the victim (brave girl) managed to pick his wallet out of his pocket while she was being attacked.

The fellow at work was released (the actual rapist did look a lot like him), two weeks later, but it caused so much trauma that his wife left him, took their son with her, and he ended up shooting himself.

So the result of slip-shod police work, and a hasty "identification" in a line-up caused a young man with a promising future in an academic profession to end up dead.

Nope, we don't have such things where I live cause there'd be too many police in the line up.

Loads of times, I knew the guy who ran them so he'd ring me up quite often. Got £10 a time. Doesn't matter if you're picked either.
