OK, this might seem a little random or "really obvious" to you sex enthusiasts out there. But really, what is so appealing about it? Hmm? Because so many people love it, we have overpopulation. Because so many people love it, we have sexually transmitted diseases springing up everywhere (herpes, genital warts, HIV, etc.). So, what's there to love?

Not trying to be gross or rude to anybody who loves sex and lives for it, just wondering.

I have never had sex, only in junior high. Nor have I had any desire to.

I'm not criticizing all sex in general, sorry, should've cleared that up in my original text. I just don't know why so many people are sex addicts.

Sex is obviously necessary for humanity to flourish throughout the generations, just not to the point of dangerous overpopulation or terrifyingly high STD rates.

Over recent time, sex has become something so casual and so meaningless and because of this we have all these problems, teen pregnancy, stds, etc. But sex is supposed to be an expression of love shared between two people who really care for one another, it's a way to feel connected to that individual, like you are one with them. I don't get the whole casual sex thing besides recklessly satisfying some urge, when I have sex with my boyfriend, I feel a spirtual connection to him and can't imagine sharing myself like that just casually with random people. It is a wonderful thing when it shared with the person you love, but I find it meaningless just doing everyone because you want to.
Since you are in junior high, I'm going to assume that you've never felt love before, but once time goes on and you meet that person who you feel so close to and who treats you right and makes you feel like you never have before, you're going to want to share that part of yourself with another person, just be responisbile, pregnancy and disease are just the results of irresponsibility and ignorance.

It just happens to be the oldest impression in our psyche. Every single one of us came in this world through sex. not to mention if it was not for sex there would be no food or animals or continuation of life for that matter. In sex two unite to become one which is often the closest we came to a spiritual union. We crave for this union and sex is the best we can do. Not to mention we're addicted to "feel good" chemicals in our brain which get released during sex so that we want more as soon as the withdrawal period is over. It's nature's trick to continue itself. Through sex people learn to move from satisfying their gratification to loving their children. At least some do. Finally it's just part of the package of being a human being. It's not good or bad. There is a time for sex and a time to move beyond it.

How about because it's so great, we have survived as a species.

I truly feel sorry for those who have not yet found that person who they can share and enjoy that level of intimacy. Most of the time those people are brought up in an environment that has taught them that sex is evil or dangerous or only important to men.

I understand where your coming from, I felt the same way at your age. The problem is casual & unprotected sex. I do enjoy sex with my husband, we have 3 beautiful children as a result. It helps us stay closer as a couple. It is also a great way to relieve stress.

If you must ask why sex is so great then maybe you should find better partners (somebody not just good, but great at it). As far as the std & overpopulatinon thing, it is the responsibility of people that caused those unfortanate events to occur not sex.

I think that your concern is genuine but maybe your just mad cause your not getting any. But i think that people can connect without sex but eventually you will want to consemate that love and it will mean something greater than you have ever known.

I agree with you. Personally I don't think it's that great. It's really pretty "icky" and feels like a chore. People who NEED it are lacking in other more important areas of their lives and are trying to fill it with something.

EVERYTHING. With the possible exception of trying to find a willing and healthy partner.

It is the closest youll ever get to another indivdual. If that person is someone you love it makes it all the better.
