If yes, why? Aren't there more important things for him to be concerned about? Why not just show himself and get on with more important orders of business?

Linz,
HE has already "been there and done that". Remember Jesus Christ? HE was tortured and murdered even though HE came to earth healed, and fulfilled every prophesy that was in the Jewish Talmud. We are expected to Have Faith now and await HIS Return. Have a wonderful week and a GLORIOUS Thanksgiving!!
Thanks,
Eds

umm... what's going to help you reside longer right here and not someplace you do no longer likely understand would be there? Being a robust individual will improve the common of existence for the two the Christian and in any different case non-Christian. Having faith in a god could be yet another tale. Having faith that mentioned god will forgive you- no count what you do- could be no longer so good for people who do like their "Earthly Lives" if the assumption is taken incorrect... no longer good while that individual believes that killing for mentioned god is a right this moment fee ticket to the desireable afterlife with promise of excellent issues vs. undesirable terrible demanding issues the place human beings are violently tortured and burned for all eternity... appears like a scare tactic to me. i think of- from time to time... dare I say MANY situations, having faith in a god could be a foul ingredient.

I think the most important thing God wants from us, if God can be said to 'want' anything from humanity, is for us to treat each other with courtesy, kindness, and respect.

As for 'Why not just show himself...?" There's a beautiful writing from Angela of Foligno that explains that more perfectly than I ever could.. There's a meditation of hers that she wrote, in which she describes her meditative thought process as a conversation betwee her and God.

She asks why God won't allow her to fully understand him. After all, if he is omnipotent, he can do that. God replies that he doesn't want her to fully understand him--for several reasons. First, that she couldn't bear to understand him, second, that, if she understood him, she would be satisfied that she had attained all the wisdom there was to attain and would not seek for more, and thirdly, that he wanted her to continue seeking.

I don't do it justice at all, but it's a beautiful passage, if you can find it.

Kirk is right. If love isn't first on your list, your faith will just end up being a bunch of rules and regulations, just like the ones Jesus condemned in the Pharisees. And God does show Himself to us all the time. Instead of God becoming more obvious, we need to change our paradigm as to what to look for.

It is the foundation of what we're about. He requires it. And He DID show Himself, right around 2,000 years ago. We crucified Him, and just to show us that He is God, He rose from the dead, showing Himself to over 500 eyewitnesses.

As to the faith requirement, here's an example of that: "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)

The God that I believe in(pure energy of love) wants only for us lower energies to evolve and become one with it's energy. Faith is an element, but it is not required.

Faith is entirely a personal issue. If God exists, I don't think he WANTS or NEEDS anything from us. People want and need - especially people who try to control you through religion.

Faith is a big thing. He wants it because it shows that you follow him, and believe. Religion has to be something you define on your own tho.
