I gave up red meat 10 years ago (I'm 38) and don't miss it, but for the last two years I've had muscle pain and some anxiety symptoms. A doctor I visited suggested that I should eat it again since it contains some nutrients I may be needing. Is this true? If it helped me I'd considered it, but I'd rather not eat it.

Hi Gerry Blue. Red meat is a major source of iron and Vitamin B12 in most people's diets. After 10 years, there is a strong possibility that you have developed a B12 deficiency. This could explain your muscle pain and anxiety symptoms.

It may be a good idea to see a nutritionally trained health care professional (Chiropractor, Naturopathic Physician, Certified Clinical Nutritionist, or that rare medical doctor) to get proper diagnostic testing and 'treatment'.

No way. I stopped having stomach aches when I stopped eating red meat when I was 12. I'm 27 now and feel awesome getting what I need from both supplements and different foods. I get my fat content from black olives, peanut butter anmd cheese and protein from chicken, tuna and turkey. If anything..add a bit more seafood into your diet. you'll get what you need from it. Thank polluters to mercury levels but I'm sure we'll be immune to it one day

You could have a lack of iron.

Best to get blood work done & see a nutritionist.

Nutritionist are to help people with health issues.
