and drug down pit road, why didn't he get penalized? That thing really went flying off to the side and could have seriously hurt a crew member. If it had been Jimmie or Jeff everyone would have been crying foul. Just curious, it seems like that should have been some sort of violation. GO JIMMIE, YOUR BACK TO BACK CHAMP!!!!

andrew, ALL the great drivers have had people that helped them. It is a team sport and nobody has ever won it on their own, with the possible exception of Alan Kulwicki. He would have changed his own tires if they let him. Jimmie certainly owes a lot to Jeff for putting his money where his mouth is but I think that situation has also been successful and profitable for Gordon as well.

I looked at the rewind. At around lap 56 or 57 was when it happened. The reporters never said anything about him getting a penalty.

I have seen people get penalties before for dragging their jack down pit road. When that car leaves the pits the crew is suppose to have all tires and equipment inside the pit area.

Yes here is the penalty report. Tuberk is right. There was no penalty http://www.racingone.com/article.aspx?artnum=39247

Dragging equipment from pits is suppose to be a Stop -N- Go http://groups.msn.com/The24Cafe/yourwebpage7.msnw

Running over the jack ---- Stop -N- Go

I agree. The 41 should have been penalized. I don't think he was. I saw the penalty report, and it wasn't listed on there. Looks like Nascar dropped the ball on that one.

Nascar really dropped the ball on this one, he should have been penalized, he should have been brought back around and had a lap penalty....That could have really hurt a crew member...Yep, Nascar really got this one wrong....

yes i cant believe that!!!! god the way that jack came flying out it could have easily broken a leg or any bone or even killed someone, those jacks arent light.
...oh, and Jimmie wouldnt be shyt without Jeff!!

...totally but i think u still missed my point, yea its win win for Jeff but you give some other talented driver the same equip., crew chief, etc...and theyll win a lot too i bet.

I didn't see the race, but if that did happen, and the equipment left the pit box, it's odd they didn't penalize his team or him, considering NASCAR is all about "safety" nowadays.

This is just more inconsistency in the way the rules are applied by NASCAR! It's not good for the sport!!

Hey Trego...long time since I've answered one of your Q's.

I guess it's just NASCAR being consistently inconsistant....once again!!!
