I agree. the bible does not forbid priest to marry in fact it does not call for priest because the church is God's royal priesthood. I can't find it right now but one passage even says that with the apostasy which must come first they will forbid to marry and be given in marriage and forbid to eat meat. I will edit if I find it. My good concordance tore up after 35 years of daily use.

While many believe that celibacy is unnatural, you must not forget that it is also a matter of choice.
If a man or a woman wishes to be celibate for the duration of their life, that is their own, personal choice. If, in the process, they feel it assists them in being closer to God, the more power to them.
Many people focus on Roman Catholicism when preaching against Celibacy and religion. They tend to forget that there are other religions in the world where holy figures adopt celibacy as a practice.
As for a requirement, I am not against Roman Catholic priests being required to adopt a vow of celibacy. If they cannot maintain such a vow, they do not have what the institution perceives as being the dedication to fulfill the role.

I think so, In the Christian bible there is no talk of priests having to abstain from marriage, so any priest that feels that he wants to abstain from marrige is completly up to him and his religious convictions. A married priest is least likely to "fornicate" (have sex out of marriage) whereas an Unmarried priest due to natural human urges may feel that he wants or needs to have sex more.
It depends on the persons walk with god. If the celibate dude has a strong relationship with god than He will probably be just as a married priest.
Any In answer to your actual question, it depends on the persons walk with god: not weather they are married or not doing it.

Well, probably so. There are some awfully good celibate priest though. It is sad that the cc requires celibacy. It does not make a man better. It does give him more time-but thats about all.

I am a catholic' and my views are' they should have the freedom to be married
I have known some lovely priest who left the church to be married
I object to people' making insinuations' that all catholic priest are paedophiles, some give there lives in the far east for God, [killed]
and there is not one mention or article of news in the national newspapers
The media only likes to read sleaze,
well what do you expect from this Godless society

Married priest have a lot more problems than others as when they come under attack from the devil he will have a much better chance to overcome if he has only himself to look out for otherwise you will find his family will be used against him .
Remember it was he that was called and not them and that being the case when the battle is on it only takes one of them to cause him almost as much trouble as the devil.

People have a tendency to seek the consultation of clergy to help them answer questions to problems that they are having in their lives. If you are having a problem in marriage or with parenting skills, the only educated answer you would get would be from someone experienced in these things. A celibate priest is not.

Celibate priests know what they are letting themselves in for. I think one day the celibacy rule will end in the Catholic church. They don't recruit so many "confirmed bachelors" in western nations these days. Many new priests are second career men in their 40s or 50s who have been married and had a family, widowers, divorcees. If they don't recruit these men they won't have anyone to read Mass.
