Never tell a guy he's bad at kissing. Instead, when you're about to kiss, tell him, "you know, I really love it when you (fill in the blank)" and straight out tell him how you'd like him to kiss you and how good it would feel if he did it.

Tell him up a front (try to be delicate about it) then tell him how you would like him to kiss you so if you have to teach him, he'll have something to look foward to.
