Why does the main stream media still lie so much?

THERE'S "startling" and "stunning" news of a "hidden epidemic" of veteran suicides. So claimed CBS News in two reports last week.

Most of the airtime went for heart-rending interviews with wives of vets who had killed themselves. But CBS also provided statistics that it said showed that "veterans were more than twice as likely to commit suicide in 2005 than non-vets."

Problem is, we have absolutely no way of verifying the CBS data nor how the network claims it collected the info. CBS News admits to collecting the data itself, rather than relying on an independent outside party. It also concedes its rate is "much higher" than that in an uncompleted Department of Veterans Affairs study.

So somebody isn't telling the truth. And the evidence is overwhelming that it's CBS.

The mainstream media is bent on the failure of our military.
They won't let out any good news with expection of Fox and when they liberals will smear it as Faux news.

Good things are happening in Iraq now and it is driving those who demonize our military nuts.

I know I am getting thumbs down for this because liberals can't admit it they don't want to see a victory in Iraq because they have to give some credit to Bush and you know that can't happen.

I cannot state I know the data. However I can state that many myths exist about VietNam. Like then it will take time until the real numbers are known.

In regards to your question go to the 2nd link and you will find data about suicides of VietNam Vets. Myth vs reality is just a fact of life. Failure to accept reality is problem shared by all fanatics.

The truth will not be known for years. Those figures will be MUCH lower than the alarmists are claiming now.

Joe Walsh named his 1976 album "You can't argue with a sick mind". Funny how a burned out 70's icon can be so insightful.

Sites like these will exist in the future to dispel today's myths. Perhaps they do and I have just not found them.

what u mean lie its no secret our warriors get discarded after they're used.they're no more then weapons,not different then an m16,apc,or f14,after they become obsolete they're discarded.and the military find what ever they kind,so they can't pay these people for their service.for example military psychiatist was labeling soldiers with post tramatic stress syndrone from iraq as having a personality disorder that they had before entering the military,so they don't have to pay them anything
