You have to take into account the size of TV you are looking for, as I don't think you can get a plasma TV smaller than 42 inches. You also have to take into account where the TV will be placed. Plasma screens have a problem with glare, and LCD has a brighter picture that is better for your average living room viewing. Plus, they are generally cheaper.

panasonic and samsungs have the best pics but if ur goin on the cheap side buy an acoustic solutions 1,they have pretty good screens and are reasonably priced

however if goin over 32" dont get an lcd they are bad news that big,1.backlight on the lcd is too big so darks are light and black is slight shade of gray.2.they dont have the best picture when watching normal sd tv. hd is fine but it looks hazy when ur up close

so under 32" get an acoustic solution.Over that sze you will just have to spend a little and get a plasma

Don't know about cheap but Costco has lots of them and their prices are usually well discounted.

My husband told me that even though the picture is best on the plasma its not a good buy because the screens burn out after a year or two whereas the LCD will last a lot longer. If you're going to spend the kind of money you have to spend on one of these things, it would make sense to get the one that lasts.

Sharp Aquous 37 ins Lcd has proven to me to be a very good set .
Since I bought mine last Jan the price has dropped over 400 pounds and the spec is first class 1900 x 1080( I think).

i have 1080p lcd, but not much use for 1080p for the next several years unless you have a blueray disc player. Nobody broadcasts in 1080p as of now. plasma is better, but lcd is cheaper, so go with the cheapest lcd you can find.

Always go for the LCD better picture quality as more HD channels coming into service, also with plasma you have a gas canister it the T.V. and when it runs out it is expensive to replace, also with plasma they burn out more often.

go for a L.G. online best value

I went to Argos.Bought a t.v.and found out it was mainly for a monitor. No manual with it,just a disc which tried to load the t.v.onto my computer.i took it back and changed it for a L.G. Again not many instructions, you have to download them from your computer.[70 pages] it was worth it in the end.great set.Make sure you are not caught out.Ask if the installation manual is included with the set.

I agree that LCD lasts longer but I disagree that plasma is a better picture. I purchased a LCD set a year ago (LG) and it is my belief that LCD is much clearer than Plasma.
