You are brave! Start with making sure that you have at least 14K gold or surgical steel for the piercing. Next keep it dry and clean with alcohol. You have to do this alot. Twist the stud so that the post doesn't get stuck to your skin a few times a day. Also keep your belly button clean with q-tips and alcohol also. Wear clean clothing and loose around the waist. It could take up to a month to heal. You will know when its completely healed when there isn't any crust around the stud any more. If you see any bright redness have it checked by a doctor.

At places like Claire's, they have some stuff for piercings, which has alcohol in it. You need to put something on it to keep it from getting infected. Any product made for that will help. Be careful though to watch for signs of redness, itching, and pus. If these things happen, go to your doctor. By the way, YOU PIERCED IT YOURSELF??? Good Lord, girl, what about the pain???

Take it out! And get it done professionally! I pierced my own belly and i have the uglyest scar you can ever imagine its all purple and nasty i am trying desperately hard to get rid of it i have paid so much money on products sucha s bio oil abd cocoa butter, i should have just paid the £20 - £30 to get it done properly! I know you probably wont want to take it out (i didnt want to either) but the longer you leave it in the worse it will get! It is very likely it will get infected, i cleaned mine every day and it still did.

If it hurts and it starts getting red and stuff, try neosporin. If it's normal, then drop by Claire's or ICING by Claires and get some of the piercing stuff. You really shouldn't have done that, but oh well. Try to roll up your shirt or something so it doesn't get all infected with your shirt.

sorry, but that was extremely stupid of you. h2ocean has the BEST after peircing spray, when I got my belly button periced it never once had an infection! one important thing to make sure it doesn't get infected is to wash your hands before you touch it, but you should really only touch it in the shower when your washing it. have fun :)

Go to a piercing shop and buy something called King Tritons sea salt spray. My friend did hers herself and used this stuff and it didn't once get infected. Good luck sweetie!

Clean it really good first. Then put some antibiotic ointment(neosporin, bacitrin, anything that says antibiotic) on it. Then if you see any signs of infection like change in color be it really red or any color, puss, hemorrhage, or if it won't heal normally then quickly go to the hospital.

Since you did it yourself, it may be too late. Did you use steralized equipment? Did you even know what you were doing?? Best thing would be to keep cleaning it with bactine.
