Tarp, then Tent, camping from a trailer is NOT camping. Camping has a certain adventure even in a campground when you set up camp and make due with what you have. That includes washing up in a stream, river, or lake and making a pit for waste if there isn't one of those smelly pit toilets near by. When the weather is nice in the lats spring to the early fall I only use a tent in campgrounds to keep my belongings out of site and I sleep under the stars. 25 years ago mom and dad bought a tent trailer for the family to camp in instead of setting up a cabin tent to sleep in. I refused to sleep in the trailer and set up the tent for myself. It just isn't camping to sleep in a trailer. a trailer is just a mobile hotel room, thats all. Today at 40 years old I still insist on sleeping on the ground under the stars or in a tent when the weather turns unfavorable.

I prefer to go camping in places that no camper could go. If it is less than a 3 or 4 hour hike it is not camping. Sure, RVing is fun with the grandparents, but honestly, if you are under 60 you should be sleeping on the ground. The idea of a sink, toilet, and bed that you take with you doesn't make sense to me. However, I have said before that when i retire (i'm 18 now) i would like to buy a camper and travel all over the country for 2 or 3 years. In the meantime, if i had the ability to do so, i would travel all over the country in my Jeep and sleep in a tent. that would be amazing.

I prefer a camper. It's a lot easier on my old bones. I tent camped many times in my younger days but now prefer a camper.

It depends on where I'm camping and what I'm doing. If I want to go out into the mountains I take a good tent and ground cloth. If I'm going to the fishing camp or to my deer lease I want to be able to cool off (fishing) or heat up between hunts. Cooking is easier in the camper and sleeping arrangements are better. Plus, I've slept on the ground off and on for forty years now. I really enjoy my fifth wheel when I am away from home for a long trip.

in the fall and winter a camper with no electricity. where i hunt it gets a little cold for a tent. fuel oil lanterns and sleeping bags for warmth along with a kerosene heater. in the spring and summer a tent all the way nice fire at night for cooking and nothing but woods as far as you can walk.

when your camping there should not be luxuries like campers, tents all the way.
