People still sin. It didn't prevent that. People still get punished for sinning by being sent to the flaming abyss, so it didn't prevent that. Why should one care if some dude got executed 2,000 years ago?

Means that we are no longer a slave to sin.. Without Jesus Christ we will continue to practice sinning b/c and sin will have power over that individual.... But Jesus died for all of us so that we wouldn't have to be a slave to sin, but we can practice doing what's right according to what the Bible teaches. With accepting Jesus Christ into our hearts the chains of sin that had us bound is now broken and we have the power to overcome, b/c of what Jesus has done for us.

Well from a Christian point of view it was for all people for all time.

If you look at it from the angle of an eternal being there are no pasts or futures. There is only now.

Right 'now' God is observing now, 100 years ago, and a 100 years from now all as 'now.'

In that context Jesus is dying right now on the cross, though from our point of view it happened a long time ago.

For the ancient ones, it is the same. While it didn't happen yet from their point of view God was observing it happening all as 'now.'

It is hard to explain but that's my point of view.

This is also why I believe in Universal Salvation.

As for the sacrifice, Jesus was a Jew. Jews believed in sacrifice things for atonement of their sins. They believed that it was sort of a debt that had to be paid back. A life for a life. The payment of sin is death in a spiritual and real sense.

Jesus was sacrificed of his own will to atone for the sins of all mankind for all ages.

That is how it is viewed in general.

Here's my copy and paste verse as predicted.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in union with Christ Jesus our Lord.

People still go to the abyss, because they didn't accept the free gift.

If anyone wants to accept the free gift, check out www.godlovestheworld.com to see how.

Hebrews chapters nine and 10 reply your query. In the historic covenant, the Israelites supplied unblemished animals in their flocks as an supplying for sins. They had to do that each 12 months. But the blood of bulls and of goats can not dispose of sins. But Jesus supplied one sacrifice for sins eternally. "And each priest standeth every day ministering and supplying normally the equal sacrifices, which will by no means dispose of sins; But this guy, after he had supplied one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down at the correct hand of God" (Hebrews 10:eleven-12) Jesus took away sins. Repenting does not dispose of our sin. Repenting is not the saving act. Christ loss of life as a sin supplying is the saving act. "And practically all matters are by means of the regulation purged with blood; and with out dropping of blood isn't remission." Hebrews nine:22 There may also be no forgiveness with out the dropping of blood. So you would express regret and repent each second of the day, and it would not quantity to some thing if Jesus had no longer died His atoning dying. His dying makes real repentance and forgiveness feasible.

you are much more wonderful then you may think
God created you, to be like him, you are a mini God if you like.
which means you have a spirit, a bit like God's Holy Spirit
this is what’s at the core of you, the special part of you u know you have
but there’s a problem. You don't know your creator, he is far from you.
because you have sinned because you are so free willed, sin is all the things you know are wrong in the world
your spirit is the most perfect and amazing part of you, but it hasn't recognized and praised God, as a result the rest of you has committed sin
God's Spirit is Holy, innocent, a bit like yours. God can’t accept sin
He's Spirit can not look upon it, the way it’s used to hurt others
and ourselves
So he sent a sacrifice to earth so we could use our freewill to praise God again, be innocent and righteous like him again, and go to heaven
when life ends.
The sacrifice was a man, a man who walked the earth,
who taught how man's mind and body had sinned, and how the spirit no longer knew God
what terrible effects sin has
and how it had separated man from God
and how he had been sent from God to teach a new sinless way for man
and how he was to die terribly as a symbol of all that’s wrong on earth, he was to take all the sin on earth onto himself, a sacrifice so we could
be forgiven by God for our sins, so we could live a innocent life and praise God again.
He's name was Jesus, and what he taught, what he did for us, and he's words are in a book.
The book is called the Bible
The message is Jesus loves you. May God bless you.

The one thing which separates us from the Lord is sin! When any one believes on Jesus as their Savior, they Lord forgives all their sin, past, present and future and that person is declared to be "not guilty" before the Lord and has passed from death into life. Salvation and eternal life are given as a free gift. Do you have yours?

I've always wondered how exactly this works. They say he died so that, if we believe in him, we will be forgiven if we want to be. Does this mean that before Jesus, everyone went to hell? And why doesn't just asking God directly for forgiveness accomplish the same result? And if Jesus died for our sins, then who had to die for his so that he could get into heaven? I mean if it was possible for Jesus to get into heaven without a 'savior' before him, wouldn't it be possible for the rest of us to do the same thing without believing in Jesus as our savior? It seems like it would make more sense if it was something like: Jesus went to hell so we don't have to. I suppose that is more questions than answers, but it still fits the topic.

It means that when we get to heaven if we have accepted God's gift of eternal life then the price for our sins have been paid.

If Jesus didnt die on the cross then all humanity would not exist because we were so far from God spiritually, now we have an opportunity to accept him as our intercessor so that through him we can be redeemed. its ones choice to make the sacrifice he made worthwhile.

Jesus died so that we could be forgiven of our sins if we choose to follow Him. You have freewill to do as you wish, but if you want to go to heaven then you need to live your life by Jesus' example.
