A good analogy is flowing water. Voltage is the water pressure, amperage is how much water is flowing. Voltage is the driving force pushing electrons to want to flow.

Voltage is like the pressure in a water pipe it is how much force is behind the electrons going through the cable. Current on the other hand is like the volume coming out of the pipe. This is the amount of electricity being transmitted.
