Why maintain the false dichotomy between religion and science? There is ample evidence to prove evolution, but this does not disprove God. People have always had spiritual and mystical experiences, and they always will. So, the experiences exist, and people find meaning in them. So what is wrong with accepting both -- the idea that living things changed over time, and the idea that there is a spiritual reality and/or Prime Mover beyond what our science can detect? I think many reasonable people believe in both.

I do not think they are taking over. They have no proof of evolution as some claim above. They cherry pick evidence as they claim Christians do. It is hypocrisy, and to be frank, LIES that they spew in an effort to destroy the faith of others. I guess they missed the part where it says they would be better off with a millstone around their neck ....
Proof evolution is a lie -
Diatomacious earth on the top of a mountain range in Lompoc CA.
Petrified clams @ 26K feet Mt. Everest.
Mammoths frozen with food in their mouths (and undigested food in stomachs) at the poles.
ONE skeleton that backs up their theory, yet can't be proven that Lucy had any offspring, or was even capable.
Dating fossils from rock layers and rock layers from fossils (circular reasoning)
Human embryos do not have gill slits (still in some textbooks today - proven false 150 YEARS AGO)
IGNORING the 2nd law of thermodynamics to make their theory work.
THE FACT that there is not a single place on the entire planet where the layers are in the order depicted in textbooks.
No wonder they say the Earth is 4 billion years old. That gives them a way to say there was enough time to produce enough anomalies they can cherry pick from.
A theory that can not be duplicated is not a valid theory in the scientific world. If it can neither be proven, nor disproven, it must be removed from consideration. Ask any REPUTABLE scientist, they will tell you EXACTLY that.
So prove, or disprove evolution, if you can. Oh - I just did!
Not a valid theory. A religion and one with more holes than Christianity.

Yes.
Why cant we all just get along? (had to put that in there)
Seriously, a true scientist would say that empirical analysis cant lead to a yes or no answer on Gods existence. A true religious adherent would say that God has the ability to create the world through science (and im not talking about illusions just put there to derail us), thus proving that evolution IS real, even if it was initiated by God.
But its not these people who are creating the ruckus, its people who THINK they know all the ins and outs of their belief system. They ignore everything else and defend their half-truths to the dying end.
Why do they fight? Because they want to be right. Why cant both be right? Why cant they share? Or at least admit that neither can trully be proven.

Universal gravitation also cannot be proven, nor can I prove that you exist, I would still argue that these things are present. I can however think of many tests that can be submitted that would disprove these things, and upon preforming these tests, I can see that they weren't disproven. While this does not prove that they exist, it suggests it, and evolution is more by the thousands upon thousands of data points testing it as is the majority of quantum physics.
All that said, people argue these things not because they can or cannot be proven, but because they desire to argue these things and that this apparently entertains them. Why would you want to spoil their fun?...

False.
The Theory of Evolution is the only theory that currently explains all of the evidence. Creationism explains nothing at all, it only makes assertions based on religious dogma.
Further: The Theory of Evolution says nothing whatsoever about God. It only demonstrates that a literal reading of Genesis-as-historical fact is wrong.
I have noticed that people who know nothing about the theory are the ones constantly making it out to be more than it is. For the record:
The ToE says nothing about:
The Big Bang.
The formation of the universe.
The age of the universe.
The age of the Earth.
The formation of life.
The existence of any kind of deity.
The existence of the supernatural.
Human morality.
It is about how living organisms change over time. Period.
Maybe one day the Creationists will learn what science actually is. I won't hold my breath, though.

What would they be taking over? Everyone wants to feel like they 'know' the truth and everyone's willing to fight for their answer; each with strong arguments for and against. There's this thing called NOMA, Non-Overlapping Magisteria, brought up by Stephen Gould, he said, "...science and religion occupy two separate realms of human experience. Demanding that they be combined detracts from the glory of each."
These two things science and religion are like two folded hands, with interlacing fingers, religion is one hand, science the other and neither can prove or disprove the other. This will continue to be argued as long as people have a need for answers.

This question has been argued since Darwin suggested evolution, and I'm sure will continue within Western cultures who base their religion on the Abramic God, until the end of time.

You morons that suggest there is no proof for evolution crack me up. When was the last time you cracked open a science text or even a magazine??
Read a newspaper article or something!
There is LOADS of proof for evolution and NONE for biblical creation! I.D. has been shown to be "crap science" in court!... in front of a Bush-appointed judge, for that matter!
You're the ones "sniveling" because your mythology can't be taught in the public schools!

Oh I am so tired of people striving to find some way to prove the un-provable. The very definition of faith is that it is not based on fact - but frustration does make them try. It is just silly - they are never going to agree and they all seem to think the other side will someday go "Oh, I get it now. Sure, you're right!" Not a chance. People do not just jettison their beliefs, why do people somehow think others do not hold their beliefs just as firmly as they do?

First of all, there is no such word in the world dictionary...if your writting a book or in the word coining industry..will like to know me...on the other hand..who cares about what you believe...sad and very ironic to continue to see these debate during election. America has lost her position in Religion as far back as .For those who claim they are from the chimps..I say ..when did man stop evolving from rocks? ..and for those who claim they were created? what difference those it make...we all eat, drink, and dine. We are all humans.
