do you want for christmas? Now listen you girls, Don't take liberties. You know that theres not a lot in the pot so don't put us on the spot. (I like that sentence, don't you?) Even if you don't want anything then say something anyway so as we can get some ideas. Most of us are talking about £100 or thereabouts. Got to be realistic cos theres all your family as well. And mine, Yikes I almost forgot about my own family. Anyway, tell us what you want and we'll see what we can do.

I do like that sentence lol...I told my fiance we are setting a $50.00 limit and thats all we have to work with because we are spending so much money right now (new house, wedding, etc) I really want something personal and from the heart, which I know will be more of a challenge for him, so I have no idea what it will be. I just want something that means something.

Are you getting married?

Are you planning a wedding?

Do you need to know something about wedding etiquette?

No?

Then you're in the wrong section. Perhaps you should ask this in the Christmas category.

Let's see. My christmas wish list includes any of the following- a watch, a trip to the spa (mani, pedi, hour massage=about 100), some chains (18 and 20 inch of both white gold and gold chains), or often we exchange gifts of things to do together. Hockey tickets or a concert. I am not into video games but if she is...

Frequently in the past he has gotten me a ring (most of the rings I like are about $100), a papazon chair, a piece of artwork that I really wanted. A really nice jewelry box with big enough shelves to hold Jewelry Stax (great line of containers to hold jewelry in). There is one at Target that is about $100.

Personally for me $100 in books is ideal. This year I want Lonely Planet books for Scotland as work is going to be sending us there in the spring but I want to plan a vacation to go along with it. But if you are thinking of somewhere you might go for Valentine's day, a book on the area is a great Xmas idea.

Jewelry was always one of my favorite items but I know a lot of girls who hate jewelry. What does she love? One of my friends his girlfriend loves to sew. He got her a whole bunch of nice things (a bolt of expensive cloth, more zippers, and a gift card for some more patterns). Go in with other people. For example, my uncle is getting an i-pod from my aunt. So, my sister is getting him an i-tunes gift card and I'm getting him a carrying case and small speaker that charge the i-pod. All of his items work well together and it shows preplanning.

Does she collect any items? I know I look forward all year to my aunt getting me a Snowbaby. And my sister getting me a fox shirt. Every year they get me the same thing and last year my sister's shirt said "would you could you with a fox?" I don't know if she can beat that. If she's addicted to Ebay, Paypal now offers gift cards. Always wanted to go parasailing or skydiving, arrange for the two of you to do it once it warms up.

A really sweet (and inexpensive) idea is a calendar. Open it and write in the date of your anniversary and any other big events (if you remember them). Her birthday, your birthday. Date of your first kiss if you celebrate that. I personally love my italian charm bracelet. I picked out pictures of all these things we have done together as a couple. It would be really romantic if you looked up pictures of places you've seen, things you've done together. Search on ebay for people that turn pictures into charms and make her a charm bracelet. Or a collage of the two of you. My husband and I made one. It holds 41 pictures and he spent hours cropping the pictures to fit the specific sized spot. We put it up at the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception--everyone commented on how great it was.

It's not all about the money. Christmas is about how well you know someone--knowing that she would love this particular thing even if its the complete DVD collection of a show that no one else liked but her. Christmas is about how much time you invest, not just how much money. Taking the time to show someone how much you care.

But I'm still giving you a bunch of ideas of things that are less than $100.

Everything is so costly now that most people stop buying presents once the kids have left school. flowers for mums or a meal out for mum and dad.A comic card for brother or sister with a small token pressy, keep it simple. These days very few people can afford some of the silly prices, even a drink of beer costs more than a gallon of petrol.

I'd rather do a "joint" gift and both go away for the weekend somewhere nice like Amsterdam or Venice, I'll buy his ticket and he can buy mine, perfect gift.
