I am referring to the commoner, someone who is Christian by name. NOT someone who has studied the religion!

I hate it when one of those people try to rationalize with me in an exaggerated way.

You rasied an excellent point.
In most western countries, when a person is not Budhist, not Hindu, not Muslim and not Jewish, they will tell you that they are a Christian even if they only go to church twice a year on Christmas and Easter.
"Christian" is the socially acceptable religion in western countries.
If you live in Boston the socially accepable denomination is Roman Catholic, but you had better believe that not all of them are Christians.
In the south, the socially acceptable denomination is Baptist, but you had better believe that not all of them are Christians.
A Baptist living in Boston or Chicago is probably a Christian.
For example Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson are examples of good little Baptists girls raised in the south.
Do we see any fruit in either of their lives which would make us thing either of them are Christians?
The only fruit I see in Britney's life is pretty rotten.
I wonder when the last time was that Britney's Daddy turned her over his knee? Probably way too long ago, if ever.

I think that would depend on which Christian and which Atheist you are referring to.
[edit] I'm sorry but I would fall under both of your categories...a Christian by name and someone who has studied the religion. Though I wouldn't say that would make me a "commoner".

SOME atheists know more about Christian religion than SOME Christians do -- but some Christians are young in their faith -- a work in progress. Once they believe in Christ, though, they are Christians.

We're loaded with Frauds, and it's sad.
The Media also glamorizes that idea.

You might know the religion, but it is obvious that you don't know Jesus and nether does he know you.
