there are alhamdulillah, but one school of thought (the hanafi fiqh) says that muslim women are not allowed to cut, but they are allowed to trim to keep their hair healthy.
their reason for not allowing women to cut their hair is because thry believe that on the Day of Judgement when everyone has no clothes on, women should be abled to cover their upper parts with their hair.
but Aishah may Allah be pleased with her, the wife of the Prophet SAW asked her husband about this issue, and she said that she would be very shy infront of everyone to be naked. Rasulullah SAW replied to her, saying that everyoone would be too busy with their deeds and the reckoning, that no one will even notice eachother without clothes.

i believe that we can cut our hair, because i never heard any hadith or ayah going against it.

salam

Princess all the answers here are wrong because they don't know.

Prophet mohammed (SAW) said to not cut the hair more than the finger tips length for the women.

Like when women go for Hajj or Umra they should cut only a finger tips length as part of Ihram.

Hair styling, reducing, grooming, makeup and so forth., isn't prohibited in the Noble Quran. tell the disbeliever to deliver forth the verse, says the superb Quran. some grasping mullahs made it up, so women folk does not spend any money looking after themselves.

It is not a matter of being allowed or not. It is a matter of following the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) woman should only cut a finger tips length of their hair off...Also, women should not pluck their eyebrows.. Woman should not show their adornments to other men other then their husbands ..etc
The point is if you follow the Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) then you would not cut your hair more then a finger tips length.
For men they would grow their hair to their ears and not cut their breads except which grows more then the fist.

Yes they can. However it shouldn't be so short that it resembles men's hair and men can not grow their hair out because they will look like the women.
