in the past 2 months I've had 2 bottles of rum & a bottle of seagram's turn to slush after having used them for a few days. Obviously, I keep my liquor in the freezer, and after a couple of days (maybe 6-8 drinks made) there has been quite a bit of ice (almost slush) form in the bottles. There's nobody in my house that would be able to put water in them except for my husband (but he drinks out of them also, so why would he?). With the 1st bottle this happened to after 2 or 3 days of being slush it all the sudden "defrosted" & was normal again...Can your freezer get cold enough to freeze 80 proof alcohol? I know this sounds like a stupid question, but in my 13 or so years of drinking I've only had alcohol freeze 1 time after my little sis drank some & then refilled with water.

liquor can freeze, but it is determined by the amount of alcohol present in the liquor. Also alcohol has a much lower freezing temp. than water so it is always possible for it to freeze. I buy alot of Captain Morgan's Tatoo and i have had it freeze on me before. The best thing to do is adjust the temp on your freezer, or keep the bottles as far away from the blower as possible. The higher the alcohol content the less likely it will freeze.

I keep my alcohol in the freezer too and have never experienced what you are talking about. Perhaps it has to do with the kind of alcohol you are buying. Maybe it is cheaper it is more diluted or something. I can tell you Captain Morgan has never slushed up on me. He's such a good pirate!
