simplicity most certainly is very important in spiritual life. Self realizatio is simple for the simple and pure at heart and is most difficult for those who with comlpicated minds. Simplicity is like a child, who is innocent yet is is like a sage who is wise. It is pure and kind and most sublime. This world is not so simple but we can overcome the complications of this world by taking shelter of a bonafide spiritual master and of God Himself also knwon as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, Rama, Hari, etc. KISS- Keep It Simple Sadu.

Simplicity simply means being egoless.
One may be dining out of a silver platter and spoon eveyday, but when he recognises the importance of food being eaten and not the plate is when he is actually simple because in such a state of recognition if a plaintain leaf replaces the silver platter it wont make a difference to the person. This state of valuing the essence and living with it for it and practising it is what simplicity is all about. We dont necessarily need to renounce all worldly things to live a simple life, but valuing things beyond theior nature of use and service is when ego starts to build up and we cease to be simple.
If you've understood the above you'll also see the connection of a simplicity with spirituality.

The use of the word and its meaning hinges on what you intend to communicate, which hinges on the kind of person you are and the purpose you are using it. The simplistic life is communal and traditional, doing things in common or like manner as every other member in the community. A scientific community may also be a simplistic life but the content in each members study is vastly different. Does it help in spiritualism? If peace does then simplicity does.

Simplicity is a mean by which we determine what we need to live. We live a life not knowing what we really really need.
Simplicity helps us to know what we really require for life. When that is known the life becomes effective. This also automatically eliminates greed.
Spiritual living extends even one more step that is the belief in God for survival. Hence simplicity is great compass of life.

One of our seniors meditators once gave a very nice class on what simplicity is. One of the points that deeply made sens to me is that simplicity is truth. It means that to be simple is to be in self respect - in the awareness that I am a divine creature of the Divine, I am a soul. A soul by deffinition is holly and full of all treasures and virtues. Being full a soul's intentions are always of shining. What happens when something shines? It spreads light, doesn't it? It is a process of giving in a natural way. So too, when a soul shines, it only spreads goodness through all thoughts, words and actions in a natural way. It is simple to be like this because it is our true nature. However nowadays people tend to be very complicated. They have imbibed the habit of giving only if..... But simple is to give no matter what. Though we say simple it means valuable to the same extent. God is simple in this way - He simply gives without any ''if'' or ''but'' or ''maybe''. So simple means natural, but that true nature not the untrue one. God has only one nature whereas souls have the natural and the aquired nature so that is why it is mentioned - the true, natural, original habits - those of shining....:)
Ok, souls are not simple now, but by practicing simplicity in this way they become naturally simple and that is being spiritual. To make effort to be simple is spiritual endeavour. To be simple without any effort - that is spirituality.
:)... OK...:)
Best Regards....:)

Simplicity is spirituality. Simplicity is what we need for spiritualism as well as materialism. Spirituality is simple, but it's de-learning which makes it more difficult!

Simplicity signifies originality and purity. It does help in spiritualism because spirituality is nothing but your quest to understand your origin through pure knowledge.

Jesus' teaching was very simple for common people to understand. He used a lot of illustrations that his listeners could relate to. When teaching bible truths, we should follow our master and use simplicity which can help anyone spirituality.
