Ok, here's the story:
I have just been accused of screwing up by a work colleague. It wasn't my fault. The mistake was made by SOMEONE ELSE in the department, when I was off sick (this person has now left) and only discovered now.
Basically this guy called me over, gave me a hard time about the whole thing, wouldn't listen to me and then when I told him it was someone else's mistake he told me he didn't give a ****.
Should I have to take responsibility for another person's mistakes? Was he justified in behaving this way, or is he just a w@nker.

agreed - he is a tosser and there's alot of them about in offices these days.
But hey you've said your piece, he's not going to listen to you, just let himself get worked up, smile serenely and just say "ok, yeah, whatever, blame me as much as you like, it stil wont make it my fault". If he takes it further, they will have to listen to you when you tell them it's not your fault and treat you fairly, but as far as this bloke is concerned, jut ignore him

No. You shouldn't take responsibility for another person's mistakes. No, he was not justified in behaving that way.
I don't know and I don't care if the guy is a w@nker.

He's a bully and if you can be bothered with him give him hell and tell him to get his facts right before sounding off and that if by any chance he is he is man enough you will accept his apology. There is no reason to take the rap for someone else. Be a little tactful if he is the boss of your department

If he's not your boss, then you should go to your boss and explain the mistake and who made it, and then explain that some w@nker who wasn't even your boss unprofessionally called you to the carpet for something that was not your fault.

Put a metal bin on his head and hit very hard with a bat. He'll have a ringing in his ears for weeks, and it'll make you feel better.

Similar thing happened to me.
The boss bawled me out for something I hadn't done - wouldn't listen to me (Bosses are ALWAYS right - ha ha) so I walked out saying "Up yours."
Then I was out of work for the next 4 years . . . . . . . .
