I was learning about the story of Mohammed this morning in class. I was told he was told by the Angel Gabrielleto write down the Quran, and that he was to be a prophet.
Joseph Smith wrote down the Momon bible, and considered himself a phophet as well.
Both religions marry multiple wives, or have in the past. And both are rather strict with their moral principles.

One moment please, I in NO way have led into any xenaphobic rant by asking this question.
My question is based on a Theological study of different religions of the world, and not who is right and who is wrong.
Get that VERY clear when you answer this question.
Thanks

Moon you are wrong. Mohommed could not read or write (supposedly) and some how was still able to write down the Quran anyways. It is supposed to be the only miracle in Islam. So no, it was not passed down from Oral tradition for hundreds of years.

This is a great question. Even during Joseph Smith's time, people made the connection. He's been called The American Mohamet for that reason.
He even said it himself:
“If the people let us alone, we will preach the gospel in peace. But if they come on us to molest us, we will establish our religion with the sword. We will trample down our enemies and make it one gore of blood…from the Rocky Mountains to the Atlantic Ocean. I will be to this generation a 2nd Muhammad, whose motto in treating for peace was ‘the Al-Qur’an or the sword.’ So shall it be with us — ‘Joseph Smith or the sword!’ (History of the Church, Vol. 3, p. 167).”

Yes, there are some similarities. However, there are many differences. First of all, Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon from an ancient record. Mohammad received the word of Allah and then passed it down orally for many years.
Also, the beliefs of each religion are drastically different. The restored gospel of Jesus Christ which was restored through Joseph Smith is rooted in faith in Christ and is structured after the manner which Christ set up His church when He lived on earth. Hence the term "Latter-day Saints" in the LDS church name, signifying that it is the church of Christ, but restored again in these modern times.

There are similarities between both and Christianity as well.
Christians love to talk about the immoral lives of Muhammed and Joseph Smith and claim that their lives prove that the religions are false.
But they don't do enough exploration into the lives of the men who canonized the bible. If they did, they would see the similarities and not use this argument.
The men who claimed the books of the NT were inspired of God, had multiple concubines, murdered hundreds of people for political reasons, and even left bodies rotting in churches as a deterrent to anyone who would questions their authority.
Christians build their whole doctrinal belief systems on claims made by pedophiles and murderers, just like Muslims and Mormons.
Religion at its root is always dominated and created by people seeking power.

Abraham had multiple Wives and he is considered the father of three religions: Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.
All 3 religions as shown in their religious texts are rather strict in their Moral Principles. Christianity as shown in the New Testament is rather strict in its moral principles.
God overcame Mary, somehow got her pregnant, Mary bore a Son who was perfect, performed miracles. Died and then came back to life. Angels show up in both the Old and New Testament.

Both claimed to revive the real religion in god after te order of Abraham Both taught monotheism and claimed all different gods had been fake however mentioned there have been many gods (a million Corinthians eight:five) Both religions had been divided into many unique sects and nobody particularly is aware of that is the right one Both have had all types of acts of violence terror and massacres dedicated by way of its adherents in the course of historical past to put in force adherence to the faith by way of the sword e.g. Crusades Both have faught wars to retake the holy land jerusalem Both include inherent contrdictory flaws of their holy books but each deny the life of those although they are correct there to peer e.g. Where used to be Jesus on the 6th hour at the day of the crucifixion? On the move (Mark 15:23) In Pilates court docket (John 19:14) Neither of them wrote their holy books however others did after them Jesus mentioned he used to be a shepherd, Muhammad used to be a sheppherd Quran and bible each coach with parables to difficult to understand meanings to the unprepared Both overtly denied the religions in their possess humans Both had been at first rejected by way of their possess humans Both gave a record of commandments to comply with with the intention to hinder hell fireplace within the after existence and made them critical topics of the religion. Both claimed to be the prophet spoken of in duetoronomy 18:18 Neither the identify of Jesus or muhammad is contained within the ancient testomony although each religions declare the ancient testomony used to be all approximately them Both religions compliment their founders the hijab used to be at first Christian (eg nun outfit) Both demonize victimless crimes like idolatry

Both are cobbled-together versions of the Old and New Testament, personalized by a convict (Smith), and a cradle snatcher (Mohammed) with their own "revelations."
