How do I encourage the skin around tick bites to heal? It seems every time I'm bitten by a tick (even if I get it off ASAP) that I end up with an oozing sore that takes forever to heal. Anyone out there find a way to get tick bites to stop itching, scab over and go away?

BTW, I'm not in a Lyme disease risk area. So no worries about long-term affects....other than months of annoying itching.

How are you removing the tick?? This could be your problem. To remove a tick you should gently pull the tick out with tweezers and be sure you have the head. If you burn a tick, put Vaseline, or or alcohol you get the tick to regurgitate under the skin and this is no doubt causing your irritation. P.S. while you are not in a "Lyme disease area" you are not 100% safe. Be more careful.

I had/have two bites from confirmed deer ticks and the doctore had me antibiotics just two be safe. They have been itching for months. I guess that is just how they are or can be. The mouth parts I think were in the skin so that might be why they are taking so long to heal. They are weird little bites that itch periodically so much I want to cut the bumps off.

Don't be too sure you're not at risk for Lyme disease. Lyme-carrying ticks are carried by birds and rodents and have been found in all fifty states as well as all continents except for Antarctica. There are many tick-borne infections, all of them illnesses you don't want to catch, believe me.
