The plural form of the word 'atheist' is 'atheists'.

All together now "atheists."

Okay so I'm a little grumpy and easily irritated this morning and the constant misspelling was annoying me...so I just thought I'd clear that up.

Why is it that this word is so commonly misspelled?

To 'Problem':

No need to apologize, hun! I just thought I'd point it out. One of those pet peeves, you know?

I actually don't really mind when people spell things wrong. Not everyone here speaks English natively, first of all. Second of all, mixing up the position of I and E is easy to do in lots of words. :o) Furthermore, your grammar isn't perfect in your question either. :o) You know I love you though, Christy.

If the practise equipment replaced into as much as sctratch, and the vocation of instructors entering the equipment wasn't so abused there would be no want for all people to grant this way of provider ! The practise of little ones has been decimated attributable to this new p.c.. international all of us attempt to outlive in immediately !

Interestingly, it goes against the i before e except after c rule. So that might confuse some people. Just a guess:) Enforcer makes a good point.

I have done it on more than one occasion. SORRY..I just don't seem to type the "S"...Maybe it is Freudian.or .I just didn't know there was more than one? I never meant one bit of offence. Once I was certain I did type Atheists..and there it was Atheist...I really have no excuse or answer. But..as an offender I do apologize!

I'm with Enforcer.

One of the theist regulars here has stated that he will use the singular form just to irritate the atheists. I'm guessing many of them are doing the same thing. I would just ignore it.

What I have discovered is there are a lot of people from different countries on YA Answers, their English is a bit broken and their spelling sucks!

Most of these people stick with faith-based spelling & grammar. Any lessons will be resisted as heresy.

Hey, I'm with you! The English grammar, spelling, and poor sentence structure drives me crazy. Its embarrassing to see how our language skills are degrading.

no. i am dyslexic, and even the worst answers will not get a spelling check or grammar check from me. one reason is, not everyone here speaks english as a first language, and as long as i understand what they are trying to say, why should i nitpick about something so trivial. call me an athiest, it's okay. i know what they mean.
