I was born into the Catholic faith; my mother was Baptist before she married my father. I believe that Catholics and Baptists have basically the same view of Jesus ... that He is the Son of God, born of a Virgin and crucified on a cross for our sins. We just differ in how we go about worshipping Him.

I'd heard growing up that the Jews don't believe that Christ is the Son of God ... now that I'm older I wonder how can that be? Weren't Jesus' disciples Jews who embraced Christianity? I'd heard that the Muslims accept Christ as a Supreme Prophet, but not the Son of God. I'd heard that the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Mormons did not believe that Jesus was born of a Virgin ... that He was just a man.

I know that a lot of what I'd heard are false; but trying to get the truth from online sites are even more confusing. I can go on and on and on with details ... but the point is, what are the misconceptions, and what is the truth? Straight from the Horses' mouth, so to say?

Oh, and ... what are your views on the Holy Trinity? Are God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit one and the same? I was baptised as a baby in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (They sprinkled water on me). But I was invited by my best friend to visit her Apostolic Church, and those people jumped up and down the aisles and spoke in tongues! It was amazing! But they didn't get baptised until later in life, and they were baptised in the name of Jesus Christ, because it was explained to me that because Jesus is all three - the Father, the Son, AND the Holy Spirit, they believed that you couldn't be saved unless you were baptised in His name. They convinced me to be baptised again, and it almost scared the H*** out of me when they dunked me in the pool of water. I thought I would drown (I couldn't swim) ... but somebody was holding my hand and they pulled me up.

No, Kirsty ... belief in Jesus Christ has nothing to do with religion. Jesus did not sponsor religion, religion was brought about by man.

Catholics, Baptists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Apostolics, Pentacosts, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Taoists, Voodooists, Mormons ... we all claim a religion. However, Christianity is a common link between most of these religions. A Christian - regardless of what religion he/she belongs to - is a follower of Christ.

Thank you, Kirsty, for answering this question. I have invited everyone - regardless of his/her beliefs - to tell me how he/she views Jesus Christ. In the future, I would deeply appreciate if you could keep your sarcasm to yourself long enough to just answer the question truthfully. Just as I show consideration toward your beliefs, please show the same consideration toward mine.

Whoever shares Kirsty's beliefs, this question is not here to invite hostilities toward each other, or to tear each other down. Thank you all in advance.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We believe he is the only begotten son of God, sent to earth to be born of Mary. However, we do not believe him to be part of a trinity... God himself. We believe in all three components of what people call the Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, but not that they are one... co-equal and co-eternal.

I very much appreciate the fact that you asked this question. It sure beats making assumptions about groups of people. It's very refreshing.

Enjoy your day.

Ones views of who Jesus Christ is begins with whether or not they believe that the Word of God is absolute.

As a born again believer I believe that Jesus Christ is:
The Son of God
Born of a virgin
The second person in the trinity
Was crucified and on the third day rose again

As far as baptism in the Holy Spirit, One can receive the Holy Spirit at any time after there conversion, but not until. (Repentance) So the doctrine of your not saved unless you speak in tongues or are baptized is not biblical.

As far as the Jews, The nation of Israel as a whole did not accept him as Messiah.

As for Muslims, they do except Jesus as a true prophet, yet they are in opposition to what he taught.

If you desire to know the truth of God's word and how to live in that perfect word, you must first listen less to those around you in get in the Word yourself to see if you be in the faith.
Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
(2 Corinthians 13:5; Philippians 2:12)

I called Jesus Christ as the Son of God. He's a very special man, with all of the characteristics that cannot be found from an ordinary man, because God had given Him powers to become the greatest messenger who performs miracles, and more importantly, spreads the words of God.

For more information about Christ's true nature, and the reasons, you may try to access this website:

the book name the "Purpose Driven by Rick Warren
it says :
God wants us to pass this test, so he has given us the questions in advance. From the Bible we can surmise that God will ask us two crucial questions: First, "What did you do with my Son, Jesus Christ?" God won't ask about your religious background or doctrinel views. The only thing that will matter is, did you accept what Jesus did for you and did you learn to love and trust him? Jesus said, "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Second "what did you do with what I gave you? What did you do with your life all the gifts, talents, opportunites, energy, relationships, and resources God gave you?Did you spend them on yourself or did you use them for the purpose God made you for. the first question will determine where you spend enetnity. The second question will determine what you do in eternity... i hope i answer your question

See,faith is not something that requires proofs or evidences,if u`ve faith for something u dont need any evidence and if u need any proof then thats not ur faith!and in ur case ,if u beleive in Christ and Christanity ,u need not to care about whats others beliefs, whats important is, ur belief! And if u`v faith on Him ,does it matters to u either He was born of virgin Marry or HE was just a man .So no need to get so confused just believe in ur faith! And the truth is He is the son of God,born of virgin Marry.

Go to your local library and check out some Bible Commentaries. Barnes, Matthew Henry and Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary are all good. Here is the short version: The Gospel of Matthew traditionally ascribed to the Apostle Matthew, son of Alphaeus. The Gospel of Mark, traditionally ascribed to Mark the Evangelist, who wrote down the recollections of the Apostle Simon Peter. The Gospel of Luke traditionally ascribed to Luke, a physician and companion of Paul of Tarsus. The Gospel of John traditionally ascribed to the Apostle John, son of Zebedee. The first three are commonly classed as the Synoptic Gospels. They contain very similar accounts of events in Jesus' life. The Gospel of John stands apart for its unique records of several miracles and sayings of Jesus, not found elsewhere.

I am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses. We as Christians, view him as the Son of God. We do recognise that he was sent to the Earth by Jehovah, was born of a virgin, and lived, and died, for ALL mankind.

JWs believe that Jesus is the only Begotten Son of God, our King and Lord and Savior, the Christ, the Word, and was born of virgin birth thru Mary.

We believe that Jesus’ Father is Jehovah.

Jesus admitted that his Father is his Source of Life.
John 5:26 states “For just as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted also to the Son to have life in himself”. So who is Jesus’ SOURCE of Life?"

In Heb 1:5 it states "You are my son; I, TODAY, I have become your father"?. Why did it use the word "today"?

Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten(Gennao) thee. Acts 13:33

The word begotten in Greek is gennao. It means “to be born” –Strong’s dictionary defines this as procreate (properly of the father, but by extension of the mother); figuratively to regenerate: - bear, beget, be BORN, BRING FORTH, conceive, be delivered of, gender, MAKE, spring.

At Acts 13:33, it states the Father “has MADE/BRING FORTH” the Son. This verse talks about the relationship of God to his Son whom he MADE/BROUGHT FORTH (Gennoa).
Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten(Gennao) thee. Acts 13:33

Jesus is the beginning of the creation by God. Rev 3:14 & Prov 8.
