I have answered many a question in which I have been able to explain the many reasons why I believe and know that my God exists. However I have never seen asked why anyone does not believe in God. I'd like only answers that are true fact - not opinion or pointless comments...the actual evidence you've got for there being NO supreme being whatsoever. Thanks!!

You see what I mean...all you want is proof that he does exist. Its very hard to see and have conversation with someone non-existent. I'd really like to answer each and every one of your answers...but I do have a life!!

and ABB, i really don't see what is so funny....its quite true...the non-existent part would make it very one-sided, which it really is not...in fact half the time I'm sure I don't even start the conversation...

Like any personal or professional opinion it should be based on the facts present, for one thing there are too many errors and contradictions in a book that is not admissable as fact,ie the bible,so when I have quotes thrown at me from this book I find it not only condescending but pointless as the world as the bible described was not made in 6 days as the earth is millions of years old which is a proven fact.
Secondly christianity is not the first or the last religion to claim exclusive right to be the only true way, from history we know of the power struggles that religion has sought to influence and only the stupidist of people could fail to see the exact same happening today because they have been indoctrinated into not thinking things out for themselves.
I know he doesn't exist for me and I have no interest in him whatsoever and knowing this only strenghtens my "spirit" and makes me what I am,a religion of 1,me no one else, no deity's but respect and reverence for the planet we live on.
As for absolute proof god doesn't exist, well your holy books describe how things supposedly came to be,which science has disproven so I can only accept that all the books are fictional and man made....you disprove your god by the lies you persist as being true, which as I say have already been proved wrong....

Nobody *knows* God doesn't exist. Of course we don't.

But you don't *know* God exists, either. You think you do, you believe you do, but really you don't. You have no way of proving it, or even showing it to anyone else. You just have your own personal conviction.

Now for some people, the ability to believe without evidence - faith - is enough. But for more and more people, that just isn't good enough. If you want me to believe in your God, you need to provide some evidence. Not *proof* - just *evidence*.

So far, I have not seen any evidence that is even remotely convincing - just a lot of wishful thinking. Like many people, if you could show me something that is undeniably evidence of God, I would probably believe. But you haven't, and no theist ever has, which leads me to the tentative conclusion that God probably doesn't exist.

bendy_jo_jo ,

We all know the things that would help prove God’s existence such as healing amputees , an end to suffering and starvation in the world etc , however , I am not sure what kind of evidence you would accept as proof that God does not exist.

I might suggest you familiarise yourself with Bertram Russell’s celestial Teapot , no-one can prove that there is not a Teapot orbiting the sun. In the same way no-one can prove God does not exist.

But since you have asked the question , you must have some ideas about what you would like to see as proof of Gods non-existence , would you care to share them with us ? The non-healing of amputees – would that be evidence of Gods non-existence perhaps ?

Child, you can't even prove to me that YOU exist ... so why should I believe what you say about an invisible god?

I'll take a drink ... but only tea at this time of the day ... cheers!

EDIT:
"Its very hard to see and have conversation with someone non-existent." ROFLMAO... this has to be one of the funniest statements I have ever read ... even on this website!

EDIT 2:
"...in fact half the time I'm sure I don't even start the conversation..."

Stop it, child! If I laugh any harder I'll hurt myself!

First of all, you are confusing 'believe' and 'know.' You may feel able to explain your belief, but to 'know' requires evidence.

Just as you have no evidence for the existence of your god, atheists generally claim no evidence for god's non-existence. We simply feel no need to invent an imaginary being to act as a carrot or a stick to convince people to comply with a limiting set of 'commandments.'

Furthermore, 'pointless comment' only occurs when 'comment' blocks or evades truth. Atheists seek the truth, when it is attainable. When it is not - patience, study and scientific research will lead us through.

Religion and 'god' holds us back from this courageous human advance.

There is no evidence that any god exists apart from what is in your mind. However you only have to see the number of questions on here from I presume Christans asking why god allows such things a children getting killed, major disasters and may other clearly unfair but bad things to happen to know that the only logical conclusion to those questions is that there is no god

You can't prove a negative, so I can't actually PROVE there isn't a god. But can you prove that there is, with irrefutable proof?

When you can, I'll believe. I simply don't believe because there's no proof. Sorry if that's a hard concept to grasp. I don't KNOW if any god exists, whether it be the Christian god or the less egotistical ones with names, but I don't believe there is, because I have no reason to.

Since I can't prove that Santa doesn't exist, it's difficult to prove that God doesn't exist. The proof is on you to prove that he exists. Anyone can say that something exists and not prove it.

You ask a question but you don't have time to answer our responses? Nice.

It is a technical impossibility to prove a non existance. Therefore the burdon of proof must fall on the one making the claim of an existance.
Hence we say show us the proof..!!
