When you give that offering, or tithe, or whatever it is you do to support your religious activities, how do you feel when millions of it go to pay settlements for abuse victims of the same people who are collecting that offering or tithe?

This article prompted me to ask the question:

That's a point I've never heard brought up before.

I would be pretty upset. I am Christian, but not Catholic so I can't say from personal feeling. If I was Catholic I think I wouldn't be for much longer. I have two sons and would not risk them for a church that is not willing to punish those who violate the trust of their parishioners.

Pastor Billy asks: This isn't how it works there is no possible way all the offerings of any diocese or individual parish could possibly pay for the outrageous claims being processed through the court system. Sometimes insurance pays for a portion, and sometimes fixed assets have to be sold. You are running on a presupposition which is not altogether accurate.

What I want to know is why are the majority of these claims over 40 to 50 years olds? I remember how the bishop of Chicago was falsely accused years ago and it was all about money. Never assume all victims are victims and never assume all lawyers act justly.

Now for the first person posting and any others who assume abuse doesn't exist amongst their own flocks see

and finally why isn't the school system and government agencies also seeing settlements with vast sums flowing out the window for abuse cases? because there is a cap on settlements for them doesn't sound like fairplay or justice to me.
The Catholic Church is being attacked from all angles today.

please read the report below and discover
The National Child Abuse and Neglect Data Systems was developed by the Children’s Bureau of the U.S. Department of Human Services in partnership with the States to collect annual statistics on child maltreatment from State child protective services agencies. For the year 2001, it was found that approximately 903,000 children were victims of child maltreatment, 10 percent of whom (or 90,000) were sexually abused. It also found that 59 percent of the perpetrators of child abuse or neglect were women and 41 percent were men

and the young man asked Jesus, what shall I do to attain the kingdom of heaven, and Jesus told him, sell all that you own and give it to the poor, Jesus did not say give it to the church, in fact Jesus said destroy this church and I will raise it up in three days, you can not give money to a spiritual church.

"The Word of God" said in 1 Chron 17:4, thou shall not build Me a church in which to dwell, My Son the Christ shall build My Church.
