I feel for you.
I heard Vista was horrible.
From what I heard, you have to wipe out Vista totally and install Windows XP.
Good luck!

I would format my hard drive and install XP from scratch. This way you will experience fewer problems

Consider this an excellent time to recognize that
both of your operating system choices are defective. I recommend, instead, trying one of:

http://fedora.redhat.com
http://www.centos.org
http://www.opensuse.org
http://www.debian.org
http://www.ubuntu.org
http://www.slackware.org
http://www.freebsd.org
http://www.opensolaris.org

Any of these will be more reliable, less susceptible to
viri, uses your hardware more efficiently, and they're
all free.

Get a windows xp disc then reformat.

BACKUP ALL THE FILES YOU NEED BEFORE REFORMATTING BECAUSE THEY WILL BE ALL DELETED ONCE THE HARDDISK IS REFORMATTED.
