The only way I think it would be better is that there would be no more wars between Christians and Jews ... and Christians and Muslims... and Muslims and Jews (for that matter, since neither would exist)

No, but we'd still have wars between Catholics and Protestants, between Methodists and Baptists, and between Southern Baptists and Missionary Baptists. Et cetera.

The different religions do have a function that is kind of interesting when you think about it. The different errant views of the different religions that are extremist or fundamental (no offense intended) help bring moderation to the masses. When true Muslims see extremist, kill innocent people, it corrects some aspect of the teaching of men as it relates to the Quran. When true Christians see skin heads hate others for the color of their skin or religious affiliation, it moves to correct the errant teachings of men within the Christian community.

If Christianity was the only practiced religion now, then the extreme factions could take over and you may not be able to dance, paint, sculpt, read sexually oriented material, have English translations of the bible, study science independently, drink beer, read the Quran (or any other book outside of “Christian” theology) plus way to many other restrictions on free thinking would probably occur.

In other words, different religions have a role in keeping those with narrow minds and concepts about their understanding of God from imposing their limited understanding on the masses.

Sort of an interesting concept isn’t it?

Blessings and peace to all,
All in all,
B

I think the world would be worse if everyone was christian. Remember that there was a time when the majority of people in a region was pagan and life was good and simple. But low and behold, the catholic church and it's followers arrived and robbed and murdered all those who didn't fall in line with their belief. The Black Plague was actually spread, in effect, by the lack of cats in Europe due to the Church's order to have them killed. Why? Because they were associated with witches!!!!! Since the plague was brought to Europe by rats, the disease was allowed to be spread in greater numbers. There wasn't enough cats left to hunt and kill the rats, something they would have done naturally. Now I must say that the amount of people in addition to living conditions and personal hygiene added to the contraction of the disease but it could have been contained if not for the actions of the Church in their paranoia. If you don't believe me, ask a few knowledgeable pagan practioners. They will know all about the Burning Times and possibly the the cause and effect of it.
Now, on to religeous strife between denominations. Christians and Muslims will always fight!!!!! The Muslim Holy Site stands on the former site of Solomon's Temple. Both Christians and Jews are awaiting the day that the temple is rebuilt and reclaimed for judgement day. I am unsure as to what the Jewish religion is all about so forgive me if I can't give a more detailed description of their "End of Days" theory. Regardless of religion, there will always be conflicts over land rites, beliefs, and a denomination's place in society. I personally don't believe in any religion where they honor a higher power. We are here because a planet or star exloded and we evolved from almost nothing after a combination of stars and planets collected and formed what we know as Earth. We weren't put here to do anything for a single god. There is no god and there is no heaven or hell. What we live in now, is our hell, a hell that we created over time because we are christians, muslims, jews. A belief brings about numbers, numbers bring about control, control needs a leader, leaders need control of their subjects, as well as the money to control and to maintain the belief. The world may be better if everyone minded their own damn business for once and let people live their life the way they want. Keep laws in place but keep them flexible and people won't break them. Make food, education and land availabe for everyone. Ignore money as being what life is all about and do what needs to be done with harming none in mind. Save money where needed and stop wasting it where it is not!!!!

Muslims, Jews, and Christians all have the same roots in Judaism. Mormons, Baptists, Catholics, Pentacostal, etc all have the same roots in Christianity.

There are always divisions that people create. Whether those are by different interpretations of religious text, belief in different prophets, or whatever, they exist.

There'd still be religious wars. There were wars where religion was a component between Christian nations. There were wars based on religion between Muslim sects.

There's good and bad in religions. (Religions, being institutions based on man's interpretation of what is supposed to be God's word)

The Christians can do very well making war with each other, no need to have outside religions for that. Look at Northern Ireland, thousands of Christians killed by Christians. Look at British History, murders of Catholics under Henry VIII and Oliver Cromwell. Look at the Spanish Inquisition.

Even today there is much disagreement between Mormons, Baptists, Anglicans and Catholics.

I would not feel safer in a world populated only by Christians. They are so confident that they are right and so intolerant of other ideas becuase their religion is so fragile, based on fanatacies and falsehoods that they feel duty bound to protect it at all cost and despite all logic.

If everyone were of one religion (it really doesn't matter which one) George Orwell's 1984 would look like Utopia.

Government and Religious intrusion into everyone's daily lives would be ordinary and ruthless. Jails would be full of people who have disobeyed the new moral laws. Individual freedoms would be destroyed.

There would still be classes of society, after all, power is power and just because those in power are religious does not mean they will be benevolent and do what's best for anyone but themselves and their own power class.

Except for, of course those that toe the line and become one with the religion in charge.

Diversity is better in my opinion.

Evan Christ is embarrassed with Christianity, a small ,narrow view of being humane and conscious, loving and caring. I love this bumper sticker...god bless the whole world, no exceptions. The word religion means self realized, not subservient to your self denial. We are all equal in the eyes of creation, planet, sentient, created/creator. The two radical religions are always at war, so the only change would be what Christians are killing for!!!

If everyone were Christian, there would probably be deep divisions between sects. Catholics would want to assume authority, while Protestant groups would band together to fight off Catholic encroachment. Pentecostal and Evangelical groups too would wage war against other christian groups.

In other words, the world would look pretty much the same as it does now, except the names of the enemies would change.

The only way that would happen is for them to continue their genocides of the past -- Crusades, Holocaust, Inquisition, etc. Thankfully, the world is moving in the opposite direction -- secularism. Since Jews don't impose their religion on others, we could survive very nicely for a change.

Nothing would really change. Say we all became vegetarians instead. We converted ALL the "evil" meat eaters. Then we run the gambit of those that still eat "eggs, milk, cheese" and those that will only eat fruits and veggies that don't kill the plant (cucumbers but no celery, tomatoes but no carrots) and all those in between. There will ALWAYS be those the see themselves as holier than thou and want to destroy the "infidel cheese eating bastards". I think Marilyn Manson said it best, it sounds really racist on the surface but in one of his songs he says "Everybody's someone else's N*gg#r". In other words, everybody is looked down upon by somebody and everyone looks down there nose at someone else. whether it is sex, religion, politics, culture or FOOD!

By Christian, I mean REAL Christians, not those who'd change their religious affiliation if a gun was pointed at them.

1. There'd be peace, real peace, not just the avoidance of conflict.

2. There'd be true love, people would be willing to even die for one another

3. There'd be no need for the police, no need to lock your door at night, the streets would be safe etc

Such a time actually will come, when God turns the earth into a paradise.

EDIT: Did you know that such peace already exists among Jehovah's Witnesses? They'd rather die than go to war, they have real love for their brothers and sisters, even in the middle of genocides they protected those from the other side. And the police can testify to the fact that when they are assigned to assemblies of Jehovah's Witnesses, it's like having a day off.
