Are they too afraid? Are their critical thinking skills too poor? Is their knowledge of science too poor? Is it some combination of these things?

After reading some of these Christian fundy answers, I find their hypocrisy hilarious. "Theory are guesses!" "I glimpsed at evolution at school once, I thought it was WRONG!"
Do they ever stopped to think if evolutionary biology and the age of earth is so wrong how can they trust going on a plane or going to the doctors? I mean these fields also following the satanic scientific method, so they should be scared if not doubtful of all science.

Even fundamentalists only disagree with a minute portion of science (like evolution or "maybe" the age of the earth) if they disagree at all. And the dispute itself will usually center on just how "science" based these claims really are.

So, they're not opposed to science as a whole, but only where they think claims have been made in the name of science that they don't think have a real scientific basis.

Who knows? Just to balance up the argument though, why do so many atheists believe science proves their faith (or lack-of) is correct? Science makes it harder for people to accept religious dogma, but proves nothing about there being an afterlife or a god.
Science has a focus that leaves people behind. An important part of all people is spirituality. It's built in to us. If we have it then turn away a part of us dies. If we don't have it at all a part of us will be missing.
Have you ever dealt with alcoholics or drug addicts? Those that reform their life to overcome these problems so often turn not to science, but faith. It is necessary for them to build their character once again. It doesn't have to be any particular faith, just a faith in something.
Science fails to answer many questions. At the end of the day we all choose what we believe. You've chosen your belief, let others choose theirs.

Why is it that people who think they are so scientific so self righteous. Seems to me scientist have theory's about allot of things this is not proof of anything that is a educated guess and that is still called a guess. I can guess by myself at the house.

Can science tell us how the earth was created hmmm nope or when for sure nope. Can they even tell us how old the earth is nope or is there any other planets like ours anywhere nope.

These are the same people who come up with medicines that are suppose to cure us then we find out they are poisoning us.But you want to believe every word that comes out of their mouth.

Yep these are the people who know all not hardly. They have theory's I think sometimes is it science that needs to open their closed minds to more options like there is a creator and it is not them.

For now I am sticking with God who DOES know all.

Not Science-CHRIST!

If they admitted defeat, they would drop from the top of the food chain in R&S to the bottom, all at once, since they do not have any argument besides faith. It's easier on their pride to continue defending the indefensible.

I don't.
Thanks to a science teacher that taught us the theory of evolution, I was able to see that there was NO WAY I could accept evolution as being real.
I have yet to see any thing from science that doesn't look like a clutching at pieces trying to make it believable.
