As an ailment is defined as "a bodily disorder or chronic disease," and the planet earth does not have a body, so, by definition, the planet earth cannot be ailing.

James Lovelock, in his "Gaia hypothesis" supposed that the planet *did* behave as a single living organism; and that it would likely adapt to regulate its' temperature, etc.
